Not confident in the care I received
As a first time heart patient, I had some questions for Dr. Lawand. He was impatient answering questions. The go-forward plan was confusing. When I asked him a question about it through the patient portal, he answered me, but just repeated what I said rather than answering the question. I am not confident that he reviewed the results of the echocardiogram he ordered for me because I never heard from him. And the notes from my appointment said he examined me -- he did not.

Ablation
Dr. Lawand helped me to decide to have persistent atrial fibrillation treated rather than using medication alone to do so. In an online presentation he stressed that there is a "window of opportunity," during which the ablation would be most likely to be successful for this condition. He mentioned that waiting too long is a common situation in which I found myself. Being a person that generally has avoided surgery when possible, I was concerned enough that this strategy might lead me to a more serious outcome. He is also tolerant of my concern about my other health problems and medications interacting with the heart condition. He is not condescending about the relative importance of other treatments in progress. He was detailed in explaining the other problems that were mitigated by the thorough procedure. He has made corrections to the medication regimen for afterward.

He was very informative and detailed in his explanation of my condition. The wait time was very minimal. The staff was efficient and the office was very clean. I’ve never had a doctor, for any procedure or surgery, answer all of my questions in such detail or explain the procedures in such detail. It definitely gave me more peace of mind. Instead of the trauma that comes from not knowing what’s going to happen to your own body. (I’ve had brain surgery, so I get being scared) He definitely set my mind at ease. I would highly recommend. Will update again after my procedure.

He was nice enough, and did a good job with my pacemaker. However, since he does ablations, I was surprised that he was not up on the latest. My case was complex and he was unaware of any other procedure besides the ones he does, which would not have helped. I found on the internet a new procedure that in the end did help, so went somewhere that did that procedure. To my questions, I apparently asked too many because he told me he was limited on time and that I was out of my share.

My husband has seen Dr. Lawand for two EP procedures. He is kind, caring and listened to and addressed all of our concerns. He is very empathetic toward patient's medical history and really takes the time to understand and see the whole picture when addressing EP issues. This entire region is very fortunate to have such a skilled doctor in our community.

Was not at all impressed with him or the clinic. My wife was having new onset cardiac symptoms and had a lot of questions. We were told several times she needed to see an EP doctor and he was the only one in town. When we finally got a consult with him he got upset with our concerns and questions and basically yelled at us. He stormed out of the room and within 24 hours my wife's appointment to see him was switched to see another doctor. He is arrogant and would not recommend him to anyone.
