I went to Dr. Sanaka's office for my very first GYN exam (I am in my early 20s) and had a very negative experience. The front desk receptionist was cold and unfriendly, which didn't help to calm my nerves being my first time. Dr. Sanaka has a very matter of fact, no-nonsense approach which may work for some but for me it was difficult to take in such a vulnerable setting. She fatshamed me during the exam and was also very dismissive regarding my concerns about having a potential condition. The only positive out of the whole thing for me was her assistant, who was genuinely considerate and helped walk me through what to expect and made me feel a lot more comfortable despite everything else I went through, including Dr. Sanaka's terrible bedside manner, being so uncomfortable. If you have very thick skin (and can maintain that attitude with your legs spread wide open) then she could be the doctor for you. For me though, I will absolutely never return to her office.

Do your research. No.
Do not recommend. Also, do not understand her when she speaks. She does not have a bedside manner. No doctor should tell you they are sick and that’s why they are wearing a mask. Stay home and reschedule if possible, doctor. I don’t care how long she has been practicing. Do better Franciscan.
