Dr. Parag Somalingam, MB BS

I’ve been under his care a few times at Troy Beaumont. This last time was the last straw. I was told the pain under my rib cage was in my head because I am just “so worked up” about my upcoming #4 cancer surgery. It was a nice touch of him to send in psychiatry also. Never bothered sending in a thoracic surgeon like I’d been told they would. Basically, my pain (being at a #8) just couldn’t be figured out so since there were no further money making tests to run, he Just discharged me. I’m already in therapy & do many other self help things so the psychiatrist really didn’t have much to say. That was just pouring salt in the wound if you ask me. All I wanted was resolve-not more meds! I’m trying to use my precious energy to fight cancer-not other pain. At one point pain management came in with a reasonable pain regimen, but Dr Somalingam flat out told me “That's not what she said.” My roommate was even floored at the way I was spoken to. Pretty sad. Don’t expect care from him.

He was my father’s doctor in the ER at Troy Beaumont and didn’t believe him that he had chest pains. Ultimately wanted to send him home. Later we find out his main artery was 80% blocked. Mind you my dad has a history of heart issues and has a chart with the hospital that he obviously didn’t see the need to look at.

Considerate, caring and available! If he would open a practice I would have him as my personal doctor. Doctor Somalingham is highly regarded amoung the nurses and myself as I was a patient at Troy Beaumont for 5 days!
