Dr. Patricia Esquivel, MD

She was amazing. Extremely knowledgeable, patient, and even took the time to repair my previous c-section scar from another doctor. I recommend her highly.

I highly recommend her! She is very knowledgeable and up to date in her area of expertise. She is gentle and respectful as well.

Dr Esquivel is incredibly knowledgeable and looks at the patient as a whole rather than through the lens of a single specialty. Other comments on here I believe to be misleading in the sense that they do not believe her to be personable which I disagree with. Dr Esquivel is a no nonsense provider - she tells you like it is and provides practical solutions to which she allows the patient to then choose from to be a part of the decision making process. This is what I want from a provider!Separately, yes, the wait is a bit long. On average I wait about 30-40 minutes for my appointment but I don’t mind the wait knowing that she respects each patient while in the room and takes her time, dedicated to listening to me, and not staring at her watch thinking of the next appointment.

The past few appointments I have had with Dr. Esquivel has been disappointing. Any issue I bring up to her she constantly counters with the solution of birth control, which I am hormone sensitive. It seems every time I go in she does not know my history. I will not be visiting halifax OBGYN again. For any woman having actual health issues I can tell you I do not recommend.

To start off, my appointment with Dr. Esquivel was at 1pm. I sat in the room until 1:50 when I walked out to the desk and they said “10 more minutes” and I politely asked for a snack because my blood sugar was dropping. I’m pregnant with #2, only 4 months post partum which was planned. Dr. Esquivel belittled me, talked to me like I was an idiot, and never once congratulated me. When she finally came in the room after 2pm, she asked if I was a diabetic and I said no, but my sugar drops because of my past weight loss surgery. She said “you should know better and be carrying snacks and drinks.” These are just some of the other rude statements she made to me: “Did your last OB not educate you on the risks of being pregnant so close together or prescribe you birth control after your last delivery?” “You do know you won’t carry full term due to the risk of your current c section reopening and risking your life and your babies.” “We wouldn’t do a vaginal delivery due to the risks.”

I was a little worried about seeing this doctor after reading the reviews on here. So glad I gave her a chance to prove them all wrong. This doctor was so caring and understanding and took time to answer all my questions. She Apologized as soon as she came in the room because she was running a little behind. And the staff were so friendly from the front desk all the way to when I checked out. Office is very organized and clean. Waiting room is very large. No problem keep 6 feet apart there. And very serious about everyone wearing a mask.

If there is less than one star I would have given her. She should not practice medicine anymore. Dr. Esquivel denied me service because she did not like that I get a second opinion about from another doctor, who by the way has a 4.5/5 stars on this site. Dr. Esquivel has ordered that I stop my medication before my travel which would have caused me a lot of problems. She said that it is OK to postpone my procedure, and after I received a second opinion which was more thorough and showed that the other doctor understood my case much better than her, I tried to go back to Dr. Esquivel (just because my insurance prefers her practice clinic), she denied my service. Never use her!!

I went to Dr. Esquivel today and had one of the worst doctors office experiences. I was already nervous about going to the OBGYN as it is my first time and it ended up horribly. At first when I tried scheduling an appointment at Halifax OBGYN, it kept ringing and putting me to voicemail. After SO many tries I finally got a receptionist to pick up and schedule my appointment. When I went to the office today, they gave me such a hard time with my insurance and did not have everything ready for my appointment as they were figuring out my co-pay when I got there. In the actual appointment with the doctor, she was very dismissive and rude. She made me feel like as if it was my fault for having my condition and how I need to simply "make more time for myself"and completely dismissed my concerns with my busy schedule. She was not open to hearing my concerns and brushed me off. The visit was super quick for only 30 minutes and everything felt rushed. I feel unheard and not valued.
