Dignity
I went to Culligan for a prolapse issue several years after having a baby. I must say that I haven’t been treated with such dignity by a doctor ever. He was thorough, explained my options which were partial hysterectomy or use a pessary. He did not stress one way or the other, which I appreciated. It’s about quality of life. I chose the no surgical route and am very happy with this “bandaid” solution as I’m not ready for surgery yet. It’s been life changing!

Robotic hysterectomy & sacrocolpapexy
From start to finish for my robotic hysterectomy and sacrocolpapexy, Dr. Culligan was thorough explaining the procedure and after care. Everything was made easy to prepare from tests being done at his practice and at my cardiologist. I had no pain afterwards that Advil for day one didn’t take care of Just soreness and some bloating but by end of week one I had to remind myself to follow the 6 week post op care instructions. I should have done this procedure a long time ago. His staff was so helpful and kind - something you don’t always find in practices. Highly recommend him to any woman who suffers quietly with organ prolapse.

I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Culligan and his support staff. From scheduling, to the initial office visit, to necessary surgical pre-op visits, to the actual surgery, to the follow-up appointment it was totally a 'patient first', 'make it happen' experience. The robotic hysterectomy and sacrocolpapexy were problem free with few post surgical side effects; all of which had been thoroughly addressed by Dr. C.. I attribute the success of my surgical experience to Dr. Culligan's skill and expertise. Dr. Culligan was low key, tolerant of questions, reassuring, and informative during the entire surgical process. He provided his personal cell phone number and he, himself, called with pathology results. Without hesitation I recommend Dr. Culligan to anyone needing urogynecology and pelvic reconstruction surgery. His medical credentials and experience speak for themselves. The travel outside my local area was worth every mile; despite road construction and other traffic delays!.

I cannot recommend Dr. Culligan highly enough. He is knowledgeable, he puts you at ease, explains your options well and truly is a life saver. I had a mid-urethral sling procedure that I honestly should have had many years ago if I had just told myself that I really did not have to live with the fear of leaking constantly. I feel like I have my life back, and I have Dr. Culligan to thank for that. The experience from start to finish was a pleasure. All of the staff in Dr. Culligan's office to everyone at the Luckow Pavillion where I had my procedure done were so kind and made me feel so cared for.

Continued "Success Story"... follow up to my robotic assisted sacrocolpopexy hysterectomy with mesh insertion surgery: My case was a little more complicated because of the prior pelvic sling that was left in place, so I did need the subsequent procedure for urinary incontinence. In December 2020, Dr. Culligan successfully performed the Bulkamid urethral bulking procedure in his office. The area was numbed externally and then by injection to render the procedure virtually painless. I only felt some pressure and nothing more. It took less than an hour, and the results were instant with elimination of the incontinence. Dr. Culligan is a master in the treatment of female pelvic disorders. His approach is conservative, and the professional care received was second to none. I now live without the worry and embarrassment of incontinence. If you can relate to any of this "success story" do not wait and seek relief with Dr. Patrick Culligan

Excellent and thorough surgeon!! Dr. Culligan performed my first surgery for incontinence which was successful for about 10 yrs until I started to see some decline which is apparently quite rare. He left his NJ practice to go to NY and I wound up seeing his replacement. Unfortunately, my incontinence grew much worse and I wasn't seeing any improvement. I decided to find Dr. Culligan and see what his assessment of the situation was. Like his other patients, he spent time with pictures and explanations of my options and finally operated on me. I had no pain, was back to my normal routine in 2 weeks which is apparently quite rare, and I couldn't be happier. Dr. Culligan appeared informed and knowledgeable on new and developing procedures which was comforting to me and gave me little concern for error. Professional and well-run office and I definitely recommend Dr. Culligan.

Dr. Patrick Culligan performed robotic surgery on me at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ. I had a prolapsed bladder and uterus which had gotten worse over the years. He was very good at explaining my choices and printed out diagrams of the anatomy for me to take home. He spoke to my daughter, who is a medical professional, and was very open and willing to discuss her concerns. The surgery and recuperation went well. I recommend him highly and wish I had seen him sooner.

Awesome experience! Dr. Culligan performed robotic assisted sacrocolpopexy, hysterectomy, with mesh insertion and his colleague performed my colonoscopy and rectopexy during the same OR surgery. I had severe prolapse of all organs in the pelvic floor. I was afraid of surgery and saw several doctors before making my decision. The other specialists I tried consulting with for 2nd or 3rd opinions were very clearly inferior in expertise compared with him. His diagrams, graphs, and research studies are promimently used and quoted by all experts in the field. Dr. Culligan is amazing with robotic surgery and is especially skilled in absolute precision utilizing the robot in surgery. I have severe PTSD as a survivor of sexual abuse and I truly felt safe being examined and operated on by Dr. Culligan. I am forever grateful for getting a new lease on life. Recovery was minimally painful and easy. He is very easy to reach in case of any questions and has superb bedside manners. Thank you Dr.!

Before COVID I was scheduled to have surgery by Dr. Culligan at New York Hospital / Weill Cornell. Since I am from New Jersey, I was very happy to hear that Dr. Culligan had started practicing there. Although I had confidence in New York Hospital, I decided to follow Dr. Culligan to his new location - Valley Hospital. I had surgery there a little over a month ago, and I am so glad I did. The entire experience was fantastic. Everything was handled in a friendly and professional way by all the staff and doctors I met. Dr Culligan did my surgery, and I felt great right from the moment I woke up. I had hardly any pain at all. Such a great experience - thank you Dr. Culligan and staff!!!!

Excellent surgeon! I had a botched hysterectomy that ended with another surgery for a bowel obstruction. When I needed extensive corrective surgery, I went to Dr. Culligan for a second opinion. He spent the most time examining me and listening to my concerns, so I knew he’d dedicate a lot of time on my surgery, too. The outcome was excellent! Thank you, Dr. Culligan!

Dr Patrick Culligan explained the Robot-assisted Laproscopic Sacrocolpopexy to me in his office late last year. He performed the procedure for me in January of 2020 and I went home the next morning without having any pain. The only pain medication I received was in the recovery room. I was walking in the corridor several hours after the procedure and was driving within a few days. His team of Fellows and Nurses are exceptional Medical Professionals, all empathetic and medically most competent. It was an experience that has had a dramatically positive impact on my daily life, including many nights of uninterrupted sleep. I couldn’t possibly thank Dr. Culligan and his team enough for this new lease on life!

Unbelievable experience from start to finish. I walked in having complete confidence because Dr Culligan had operated on my cousin when everyone else had said there was no outcome that wouldn’t include a bag. In comparison, my situation was a straight forward prolapse. The Nurse Practitioner Ashley did all the testing, Dr Culligan patiently described my options for surgery. I chose the laparoscopic robotic removal with mesh uplift. The mesh used in not the mesh currently in litigation. Operation was smooth, recovery room was a blast, post- op floor had all single rooms with private bathrooms. Nurses and everyone involved were very professional yet personal. Two weeks post op I feel better than ever, lighter, happier, less moody. Glad I didn’t wait.

I saw several surgeons in the process of selecting one before I decided to have surgery. Dr Culligan listened to my concerns and my specific risk factors and answered them patiently and respectfully. He spoke to one of my treating physicians on several occasions. I'm pleased with the results of my surgery and would highly recommend Dr. Culligan and his staff.
