My Most Recent Experience
Dr. Grutter reviewed my X-rays and was in speaking with me within moments of my appointment time. He asked me questions and actually listened to what I had to say. He explained the X-ray results, answered my numerous questions and explained my options. Only after he was sure that we both were clear on my choices, did the visit end. Dr. Grutter replaced both my knees 12 years ago (without complications) and if in the future I need that kind of care again, you can be sure that he is the one that I will call. I give him my Highest Recommendation.

I do not think I would recommend him at all.
Went to this Doctor because my GP recommended, I see for my Knee pain. After signing in and feel like they are very busy office... Was called into the back office and after about another 5 -7 minutes the doctor came in and sat by the door and asked what was going on, so I explained the problem that I was having. He then asked what I would like to do. I said I would like to work on getting rid of the pain and swelling in my knee. He never even came close to me, never even looked at my knee never even touched my knee. Told me to go through 6 weeks of exercises and come back, Um what for?????It ends up that it is just BURSITIS. Guess who figured it out. My daughter. Then I received a bill for 305$ for what.???????No I will never recommend him......

Great provider
He’s what I consider as a hands on doctor, not one that sits behind a laptop and then says well that’s it bye. He reviews X-rays, discusses them, examines you then discusses your problems and options. I’m a return patient and confident that I’ll get the same treatment as the first time.

My review
Excellent care and good outcome. I would recommend him to anybody who needs orthopedic care. The staff were friendly and efficient. All my questions were answered both administratively and medically. I would certainly recommend this office and any of their doctors if care of one orthopedic condition is necessary. having over 40 years of orthopedic experience as a caregiver myself I have seen many providers and watched how they do things. I believe that I know good service when I see it and especially when I get it. I would recommend any of the physicians at Tennessee sports medicine and orthopedics to anybody who needs orthopedic care. all my Thankquestions were answered frankly and clearly. All my treatment options were laid out for me and I was allowed to ask questions and make the decision along with the position. This type of service in healthcare It’s not always available, but in this instance of this clinic with these positions that I have seen I would recommend them to anybody.

Unhappy Ex-patient
Looking back it's hard to believe I went through the worst mistake I ever made having Paul Grutter replace my knee without ever getting to see an X-ray or explanation why my knee should be replaced other than 'it has some arthritis in it.' It's been over 3 years and my knee hurts much more now than it ever did. And I mean EVERY Day. I went for my 2 week follow up only to find he wasn't there that day. I had the scheduler's sheet but no one would look at my knee.So I had to travel again to see him & asked what the left knee looked like and he seemed upset that I asked & he went out of the exam room but came back in seconds to say 'its got some arthritis in it.' Like a robot going by a script. I've learned that knee replacement is the most oversold surgery in America.No.. get a second & third opinion, like I did for my hip at Bone & Joint Institute (which went very well) and I can assure you that Grutter will never get near me or anyone I know again in my life.
