Dr. Paul Kwak, MD

Dr. Kwak took a lot of time to explain what was wrong with my voice, and helped me get it back on track. I am a singer and had a lot of anxiety about visiting an ENT, but he made me feel so reassured and safe, and my voice is back on track!

Dr. Kwak thinks he is the best. He isn’t. He is a self-righteous egomaniac who has no business being at this hospital. A terrible experience!

They overlapped patients in small secondary waiting rooms, which was uncomfortable. Dr. Kwak was eloquent but a little offputting. After administering a throat spray for an examination that didn't end up happening, he informed us that his location didn't provide the service and sent us to another doctor without knowing if they take our insurance. I felt inconvenienced and disappointed.

I have a chronic issue, so I am a regular patient who has been coming for years. I've only had excellent experiences with Dr. Kwak. He's kind, attentive, knowledgeable, and explains things well (granted, I have a pretty good understanding my issues since I've had them forever.) He's done 2 surgeries and countless in-office procedures on me. No complaints with those. I can't speak for others' situations, but he has been instrumental in managing a chronic and potentially dangerous health condition.

Really helpful visit. Was having a longtime issue with my voice that no one had been able to figure out but Dr. Kwak and his speech therapist, Shirley Gherson, got my voice back to normal! He is kind and spent a lot of time explaining things to me. Highly recommend.

Terrible visit. Dr. Kwak was kind and attentive, but his colleague Matina Balou PHD, who administered my test, was rude and dismissive. My complaint was swallowing dry solid foods. She refused to run tests with anything but liquids or wet crackers, and when I advocated for myself to be tested with my problem foods, she said if that's what I wanted for my test, I should have brought a sandwich (as if I was supposed to know?? and I'm meant to BYO testing supplies??) and that if I don't want to choke on dry solid foods, I should just stop eating sandwiches. I also waited AGES for this appointment because the office canceled on me twice, promised calls to reschedule that they never made, and forced me to wait at the back of the queue all over again for an appointment. This office has great resources and equipment, but not the right staff. Zero stars.

The front desk lady named Tiffany was rude. She did not listen to me when I said the kiosk does not properly check me in and she was rushing me out the door and telling me to sit down like I was a child! She needs more manners and so does Dr. kwak. They are the worst!

Bad experience with this doctor, would not recommend.

I adore Dr. Kwak. I’m a professional singer, and I’ve been treated by many laryngologists during the course of my international career. Paul is by FAR the most knowledgeable of the care of the professional voice, and his attention to his patients is unparalleled. The GOAT — in my book. Thank heaven for Dr. Kwak.

Dr. Kwak was not only incredibly kind but this was easily one of the most efficient and helpful appointments I have ever had. He was incredibly helpful, patient, and made me feel safe and understood. I will make sure to come back to him for any further issues !

I can't say enough about Dr. Kwak! Very informative, had a great bedside manner, and he really helped with my vocal issues. He is extremely knowledgeable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Dr. Kwak was very thoughtful about my voice condition. Other doctors told me it was just reflux, but he used a special machine and could see there was a problem that need me to be in surgery. I wanted to sing, but couldn't. After her removed it I am now at choir again and really I haven't sounded better. Thank you so much Dr. Kwak for being so thoughtful!!

I am was not happy with the visit or treatment. I will not be returning and would not recommend this doctor.

Unprofessional and inadequate for a NYU office. I do not recommend this doctor. Kwak was unable to provide professional guidance and could only give recommendations to visit other specialists.

Dr. Kwak was extremely professional and thorough. He took his time reviewing my complaints and issues and the exam was comprehensive but painless. He also is very knowledgeable and spent a good deal of time discussing treatment options with me afterwards.

I wish I didn’t have to write this review, but so far, I must. I would not recommend Dr Kwak for voice surgery. He did not provide me with a realistic idea of the outcome my surgery. It’s been several months and the outcome is not what I was told to expect. I am very disappointed.

Saw Dr. Kwak last week for follow up for cancer of the larynx. And yes he is a nice guy BUT he is an excellent excellent doctor. He took all the time I needed for the appointment, explained everything in detail and was professional and courteous to the nth degree. Amazing was not good enough to describe him.

He showed no care about me, and about two years later I got a bill for $220 for one visit which it is after my Medicare+Supplement+3rd party insurance coverage was paid.
