Dr. Paul Matherne, MD

I've seen Dr. Matherne as my primary care physician since the spring of 1984 when I moved into the area. He is an excellent diagnostician and has seen me through many health issues. He has a unique empathy with his patients and genuinely does his best for them. If their needs exceed his expertise, he has a thorough knowledge of his colleagues and doesn't hesitate to make an informed referral. You can literally trust this man with your life.

Dr Paul Matherne has been my doctor almost since he set up practice in Biloxi, I have never had a problem with him. He will treat what he can and refer you to another doctor when needed. He has seen me through many health problems, and I pray he sees me through my last whatever it may be.

My husband went to see an Oschner clinic because it was close! and I selected them for convenience due to his inability to walk very well due to his bad knee, hip and back and drive very far! He saw him for a work related injury! Well….it was basically in and out! His records indicated he looked In his ears, throat and palpated his abdomen, listened to his heart but the man barely touched him!! The office staff couldn’t get a home address correct on his “medical” records! The general info on his record is incorrect in a few places with NO way for me to correct their mistakes! The Dr. He was referred to by them was a joke! Another Oschner Dr.! Ohhhh do not ask them for “something for pain”, Which was the reason for the appointment, “injury”!! they will talk to you and treat you like your some drug addict from the street!! He’s not even a drinker!! When calling to get medical record, I was questioned over n over, over their transcription error! Never go to Oschner or their Dr.

Dr Matherne was cordial, professional, and knowledgeable. He clearly explained which course of action he believed would be most beneficial, and explained his opinions and diagnosis as plainly and clearly as possible. I would definitely recommend this doctor to my friends and family.

Although Dr. Matherne was the best, his nursing and office staff were the worst I have ever dealt with! They were more concerned with their own well being than mine!

It takes over two hours before I get in and out for an appointment even if it's the first appointment. I have Lupus. He didn't want to refer me to a Rheumatologist. He wasn't doing anything for my Lupus. At that time, he prescribed pain medication. I was on steroids and had a lot of side effects. I had to get on high blood sugar medicine. It made me so sick that I ended up in the hospital. I got off it. I asked for time while I was off the steroids to get back to normal. He got mad.
