Do not recommend Dr. Paul Matz, Neurosurgeon
I had a back surgery done by Dr. Matz in 2020 which was totally unsuccessful. There was very little followup due to the Covid 19. But I began to feel that Dr. Matz did my surgery just to make money, perhaps like many doctors who specialize in certain areas might do. I have come to distrust surgeons now more in these days. I am extremely disabled now and in worse condition than before the surgery. I have to let people make up their own minds about this. But this is what I now feel, that doctors do unnecessary surgeries in order to keep their income coming in.

I have a rare condition called CRPS it’s the most painful chronic pain illness known to man I talked to Matz before the surgery he said he knows about it well he lied to me because I was treated very poorly he has a personal nurse that take care of everything I was having a lot of trouble could not go in to see him until my appointment that was in 3 months when I did I asked him to help me a little longer it takes longer to heal with this CRPS I asked him not to take the medication away from me he said he would he lied again husband went to pick up medicine slip personal nurse told my husband I told you no more scripts for 3 weeks they cut it down until no more tried to get appointment with Matz no one ever try to call me back could not see him.Nothing I could about that until it was time for my appointment surgery was in February I am no more better today than I was in February why would I go through surgery just to fail all he wants is get them in for surgery and no after care. Dr. Matz recently performed a microdiscectomy on my L5 vertebrae to relive dameage and pressure to my sciatic nerve. Surgery was a 100% improvement within just a few weeks. Recovery has been status quo. Highly recommend he and his staff. The best part of my experience was his attention to time regarding my scheduled Appointment, I never had to wait past the time I was scheduled, imagin showing up on time being seen on time and leaving with in an 1/2 hour of your scheduled appointment.

By far the best Neuro Surgeon! I was in chronic pain for over a year being passed from one doctor to another, only to be told there was nothing wrong with me. Missing work, having to walk with a cane and being doped up with meds sent me into a depression from hell. I decided to walk into the ER of St. Luke's where Dr. Matz ran a CT found the problem, scheduled surgery and I woke up pain free and have been so for years!
