Dr. McAfee is the BEST! 5 surgeries!

I've seen Dr Paul McAfee several times over many years and consider him the BEST doctor and surgeon EVER!!!!! He is very professional, friendly, listens to me and takes his time with me. I have referred him to many people and my brother had surgery by Dr McAfee.

I would always like more time with Dr. McAfee. He's an incredible surgeon and teacher. More time decreases anxiety, educates me, and I feel this provides a better outcome.

Dr McAfee operated on my lower back in 2008. I had been told by two other orthopedic surgeons that I should have the surgery because of pain, but that I would probably never walk again. Since the surgery I have had no pain and am walking just fine. I am sincerely grateful to Dr. McAfee.

Dr. Paul McAfee was my best researched Spinal Surgeon back in 1999, as an expert in Spinal Scoliosis Surgeries & based on word of mouth, as there was no way on earth that I would trust my back to any Community Hospital Surgeon, when my final of 9 Epidurals no longer worked after 2 years. My story below of 4 Surgeries by Dr. McAfee over a 19 year period & the expected result that I should not have been able to work anymore after my 1st Surgery, but he has kept me going! At age 33, my problems began after playing Softball, with lack of Leg strength & pain in my hips and sides of my legs. MRI showed I had Spinal Stenosis & everyone I saw said "You're too Young for this Issue". I got tired of hearing it and decided to research myself and found that this Issue typically starts at age 55. Finally, in 2000, I had my 1st of 4 needed De-Compressive Laminectomies, w/ Fusion (Back to work in 6 Months), 2nd in 2007, 3rd in 2012 (6 weeks off) & 2019 w/ major Fusion Revision. Working again, Thx!

Performed VATS in November 1996. He was ranked as one of the best Neuro-Thoracic Surgeons at that time. Complications resulting in development of a career ending spinal cord Syrinx. Key Resident at the time (Lee), described in personal interview that McAfee disregarded patient selection protocol to complete a last minute presentation of “Study Results”. Dr. McAfee refused to see me after discovery of of post-surgery complication. Is this the kind of professional responsibility you want?

Dr. McAfee and his staff have been nothing less than stellar in all aspects. I had surgery in August of 2017 and can tell it was done extremely well. His staff is responsive to communication and they really do care.

Dr. McAfee has operated on my wife twice in the past 6 years. In 2010, my wife suffered a collapsed cervical disk with a splintered piece of bone lodging in a nerve. He fit us into his schedule and operated within a week of our first visit doing two cervical fusions with tremendous results. Six months ago, we sought his opinion on her Lumbar discs as she had nerve pain down her leg. Dr. McAfee recommended surgery and performed a two disc fusion again with great results.

Great surgeon. Waiting time in office to see him can be too long! Yesterday it was 2.5 hours!!!
