I met with Dr. Natvig regularly for several years during grad school and since moving away I miss our sessions. I needed someone who would be direct and confrontational with me. It was refreshing and I always looked forward to hearing his perspective. He made a big difference for me. Amazing choice if you are looking for someone who will engage with you and argue with you and outright tell you when he thinks you're wrong. Probably not a good choice if you are looking for someone to listen passively and agree with you. I wish I could find someone with Dr. Natvig's personality again. Hearing a different honest perspective about my problems was always eye opening.

Dr. Natvig is narcissistic and likes to hear himself talk. Even though I've had my diagnosis for 10 years, he kept insisting on sharing basic details about how it works to me. I felt condemned rather than supported. In our last session he tried to "do me the service" of sharing why people don't like me.

Most disheartening provider I have encountered. Not interested in hearing your symptoms, likes to hear himself talk, thinks he knows what's going on in your head better than you do.. Told me I should consider comm. college because he didn't think I could handle U of Iowa (remained at uiowa as a 4.0 student). Genuinely makes me sad that he chose to practice in a field that requires compassion and understanding, neither of which he possesses. Only impact he had on my depression was exacerbating it

This "doctor" should not even get 1 star. I saw him through the University of Iowa and he didn't listen to a word I said. He was more interested in doing the talking and making bad jokes and refused to help me find a better antidepressant after I repeatedly told him the one I was on wasn't helping me. Now I find out a friend of mine who has been seeing him for about a year was advised by him to go off her antidepressants (COLD TURKEY) and was recently in the hospital for suicidal thoughts.
