Knee Replacement
Front office was very efficient, then met Dr Scherer. He was my 4th dr I had consulted with. I knew he was the one. Very clear about procedure and he didn’t disappoint. I’m one year post op and no problems. After a follow up, he called on a Saturday to make a suggestion; that let me know he heard my issue and processed it, didn’t just dismiss it. It had to do with a prior spine surgery that could possibly affect my ability to walk long distances. I walk pain free (knee) but fused spine is a bit more challenging. I can’t say enough about how caring Dr Scherer and his staff are, my quality of life is 100% better. Consider me a grateful patient.

The receptionist just sighing while checking me in should have been my first clue. Dr offered a cortisone shot, to just come in any time but then when call to come in, told nope! the doctor doesn't know... really? Ok, taking my business elsewhere.

I was unable to get an appointment with the illustrious Dr. Scherer because I could not provide medical records from 8 years ago from a Doctor that is no longer in practice at the location where I saw him and I have no idea where he is now. I did not have surgery previously just an MRI and told I had a bone spur. However, the doc won't see me without those office notes which may or may not be in existence somewhere and I have no way to obtain them. Ridiculous!

Dr. Scherer performed shoulder rotator cuff surgery 9/01/15 on me at Oliver Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. He did an excellent job. The shoulder is 100% now. It took 30 PT visits after surgery and at home self administered PT for about 1 year, but its ok now. I has some setbacks, but that was because I did not follow Dr. Scherer's orders after the surgery regarding at home exercise of the shoulder. Shame on me!

Plan on waiting a ridiculous amount of time and seeing his practitioner after the surgery instead of the dr himself.

Dr. Scherer is an excellent surgeon and a caring doctor. He has replaced both of my hips, and I have had very good results. He is attentive to his patients needs, insuring good care prior to and after my surgeries. He has a very endearing disposition which helps put his patients at ease. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of an excellent orthopedis.
