Back Pain
I am so thankful for Dr.Stanton! He has taken care of me before and is a caring, talented, professional doctor. Unfortunately I am in pain again and have needed to return for his treatment. He is there to listen and research what is causing the pain and I am so thankful for his support. The staff are helpful and supportive to work with. Thank goodness for the whole clinic! Blessings!

I thought he was poor Dr.
I waited over a hour to see him. Didn’t have my X-rays and was upset I wouldn’t do more. He Didn’t care a bit. I have had a lot of surgeries for different things and he was the worst surgeon I have ever met. Never even looked at me. Said he wouldn’t with out X-rays. Well they know I had this appt for 2 weeks. They had everything else.and I had already had 11 X-rays for other things in 2 weeks. I told him that and he was rude.I will live with what I have don’t want him to do surgery on anything. Or any injections. Very poor!!!!

Great care
Dr. Stanton is a very skilled and busy. He explained everything prior to my surgery, pros and cons. He repairs my 4 Disc and fused my vertebrae. Recovery was long but worth it. I am able to take care of myself, my home and enjoy life. I have some limitations but learned to work around them. I am no longer in excruciating pain. Dr. Stanton is very professional and provided me qith excellent care.

Happy to cut, unhappy to care
Based on 3 x-rays, he recommended an L-5 S-1 fusion and decompression for my back pain, with a promise of a 90% success rate. Had the surgery on 11.13.23 and my life has never been the same. I can’t walk more than 2 blocks, I can’t stand more than a few minutes or lift more than 15 pounds, I use electric carts for shopping, I’m in constant pain, and I have to sell my house and my beloved garden of 25 years because I can’t handle the stairs anymore. After the surgery and because I was in fact doing worse than before it, he ordered 4 different procedures over the next 12 months (3 steroid injections in various points and 1 RFA), none of which brought any relief. It really felt like he was grasping at straws not really knowing what to do next. Worse, he declined to give me a follow up appointment after that last procedure (the RFA) to ask me how I was doing. Apparently after a year, I’m not his problem or his patient anymore.

2.5 hours late to appointment
Follow up appointment for MRI results. He was 2.5 hours late to the appointment. Blamed his staff for scheduling error. Second time I saw him, and it will be the last time. Brusque and dismissive surgeon with horrible bedside manner. I will not see if his surgical skills are as bad as his bedside manner. As a retired doctor I would strongly advise against relying on this physician. I went there based on my primary care physician wanting me to get in sooner than later. Now I know why there is more appointment availability with this surgeon…because he is not reliable and he has horrible demeanor. Based on my interactions with him I will find a different surgeon.

Cervical Spine
Thoroughly explained procedure and what to expect. He answered all my questions and addressed postop concerns that I had (normal for cervical spine patients but new to me). I will definitely recommend Dr. Stanton to any of my friends if they find themselves needing surgical consultation. His staff is awesome.

Turned my life around
Dr. Stanton is a busy surgeon who is an expert at his craft. He is mission driven to help as many patients as possible using his skill and expertise. He takes the time needed to evaluate the individual patient and makes a recommendation, which he explains so that the patient can make an informed decision. He does not dally. Being a beneficiary of Dr. Stanton’s skill, I am so grateful for being pain free after years of pain, more and more limiting the activities I had always loved and “having my life back”. I am glad that he is so focused on his particular expertise so that he had the time to help me and many others.

Rude, dismissive and nasty
I went for a visit with my mom and I’ve been to doctors my whole life and when my mom said she has pain in multiple areas, he sneered that mom couldn’t have pain in more than 1 area. He said “focus on 1 area at a time” but wouldn't listen to where her pain was worse. My mom is an RN snd advised him she was osteopenic and therefore was not a candidate for corticosteroid injections. He stated he was a surgeon and did surgery. She said surgery is always a last option. She said she wanted a consult, and wanted to know how her back had progressed from previous MRI’s. He said they were useless and his diagnosis was arthritis. He said she needed facet injections, with only xrays. After the visit i researched that facet injections use corticosteroids. He was extremely rude, abrassiveand unkind unacceptable behavior and a bad attitude. He needs to be in a profession without people, perhaps working in a mail room would suit him. He as a bully and i feel horrible for people who would trust him.

The worst doctor i have ever encountered
I gave osteopenia, it is contra indicated for me to have corticosteroid injections. I alerted him to this although it was in my hx and physical. He manner was abrupt and dismissive. He basically said he was a surgeon, and even thou i had extensive arthritis throughout my spine i needed to focus on only 1 area i wanted to address. Although when i asked he refused to address my lumbar vs my cervical pain. He said i needed facet injections. I have researched on my own, since the visit, and these are corticosteriod injections. Which as i told him were contraindicated for osteopenic patients. Once i have the cervicsl mri i will seek advice from a doctor that is not dismissive and aims me no harm. I am an RN so i know and was not intimidated by him. He should be ashamed by his behavior.

poor on multiple levels.
I was paralyzed after the surgery for 2 months. He was quite cold about it. The surgery center was terrible. I understand the risk, but he said 'that usually returns' then abruptly left. When I was discharged they gave no notice and just wheeled me out of the building. I had to wait for a cab as I wasn't given any notice of when I would be discharged. I had asked about that more than once. I was told not to worry we won't discharge you until the surgeon sees you. However this never happened!

Worst Medical Consultation Ever
I was new to town and recovering from an ALIF L5-S1 fusion. The procedure was conducted while I was in the Army. My surgeon recommended I have an X-ray to confirm proper placement of the instrumentation. After waiting an hour in the waiting room, past my scheduled appointment, Dr. Stanton couldn’t get rid of me quick enough. He seemed annoyed with my questions and could not care less about my post surgical situation. I will gladly never be back.

AMAZING SURGEON AND FRIEND
I have seen Dr Stanton for a number of years. He performed my cervical spine surgery and I was so impressed by his surgical skill and care . I am now under his care for spinal deterioration issues and I would not consider seeing anyone else for this condition. His expertise is unmatched! I feel that he is my friend and doctor at this point and trust his professional decisions. You will never have to worry about an unnecessary surgery as he is a minimalist and only performs surgery when necessary. He will be there for you as long as you need him to be. I highly recommend him .

2 Hour wait time
If you are in pain and you want to wait for a very long time, in the most uncomfortable chairs, then by all means come here. I have now visited him twice and another doctor in this facility another two times. It is more common than not to wait at least an hour to see the Dr.s, so plan accordingly. There is no water, no active t.v., no coffee, no magazines, spotty WiFi. (One wouldn't need any of those things if you weren't camped out in a lobby filled with people for eons.) Sometimes they make an announcement that the Dr's are running about 45 minutes late and your free to reschedule. When you finally get into the room there is no apology,no explanation and Dr. Stanton spends 5 minutes with you. He sent me on for an injection in my back but did not give enough information to the pain management team for insurance to approve. One month later, and nightmare after nightmare of being stung by ants in my hip and back, I wait after finally being approved. The pain has been excruciating.
