Dr. Chalasani is the absolute epitome of what a doctor and oncologist should be. I first met her when researching medical oncologists for my niece. The following year I too was diagnosed with breast cancer and knew right where to go! She takes time to explain things thoroughly, always watching for cues that you understand. She insightfully asks questions and patiently listens. She cares deeply and it shows. She has an unrivaled depth of knowledge and I would trust her with absolutely anything. In fact, I did! I miss her, but am happy for her in her well-earned move to GW Hospital.

I'm a metastatic breast cancer patient. I came to Dr. Chalasani three years ago after firing another oncologist who was terrible. I wanted straight forward, knowledgeable answers, cutting edge treatment, as well as compassion and kindness. That is what I got with her straight from the first appointment. She's intelligent and very experienced in breast cancer treatment. Even though she is extremely busy, I never have to wait very long in the room before she comes in with a friendly smile and always asking how I'm doing. All my questions are answered. On the visits I feel worried about things, she always relieves my worries even if its bad news. So many oncologists can be all doom and gloom but not her. When you are battling stage 4 cancer, things can feel overwhelming and dark. She always has a plan of action and positive outlook on that plan. Her clinic at Banner is very good as well, friendly and personal.

Dr. Chalasani has been my doctor since the very beginning of my cancer diagnosis. I have dealt with many doctors and Dr. Chalasani is, by far, one of the great ones. She is not only smart but also very kind and all around good person. She is very clear in her communication and she lays out all the options of treatment along with the benefits and drawbacks of each. She is in constant communication with me thru staff, personal email, or phone calls. That certainly shows her commitment to me as her patient. She is also very easy to get in touch with if I have a question and she listens to my concerns. I can say with absolute confidence she is at the top of her field. In the last year alone I have seen at least 10 interns train with her. A great doctor who passes on her wisdom to others who will become doctors. I can only hope those interns will be just as good as Dr. Chalasani. Choose her as your doctor if you want a smart, straightforward, kind person.

Although I'm an RN , Dr Chalasani spoke to me and my husband in clear layman's terms. She asked several times if what she was saying was understood. What I liked best is that she spoke to you and did not have her back to you writing things in the computer. She took a few notes but that was it.
