Dr. Peter W. Callander replaced my left hip 9 years ago and it still feels and functions like new. More recently, I saw Dr. Callander for discomfort in my rt hip and after his examination he advised against surgery and provided simple relief for the issue. I am a lifelong athlete, 54 yrs old when I had total hip replacement in my left hip, in Oct 2024. I was concerned about surgery, recovery, and long-term ability to continue sports like surfing, mountain biking, hiking. I had not enjoyed surfing for years due to pain. And prior to surgery could not even walk the dog any longer due to bone on bone. I had waited too long, just accepting the pain.5 months post surgery, my new hip feels stronger than my original. I enjoy pain free surfing, unlimited walking, hiking, and mountain biking is equally enjoyable. My only regret is waiting so long to get the surgery done. Dr. Callander was super all the way through, leading into surgery, surgery itself, and post-recovery questions. My only advice is to take PT seriously, do what they ask, and do it for a couple months or more if you have the time. I wish I had BOTH hips artificial, it's really an amazing quality of life change.

I had a partial knee replacement 7 weeks ago performed by Dr Peter Callander. The surgical experience and outcome couldn't have been better. I've had very little discomfort since the surgery and a speedy recovery. I am now back to playing pickleball, tennis, hiking and taking walks with friends without any pain or issues bending my knee. Dr. Callander was my (49M) surgeon for left-side BHR hip resurfacing surgery on August 7, 2024. He and his team did an outstanding job, They did the surgery in the morning and I was back on my feet and walking (with crutches) by the early afternoon. Their anesthesia team was great, I was out cold for the procedure. I had no complications, fast recovery, and was walking without a cane or pain after about 2.5 weeks. 5 months later and I am able to walk, bike, and even run without any pain. I highly recommend him and the Presidio Surgery Center if you need top notch care for your hip. His PA Johnna Walker also provided excellent post-op care for me.

Dr. Callander performed two total knee replacements on me this year, one in January and one in November. Dr. Callander and his team are a well oiled machine: preop, day of surgery, and follow up postop appointments, have all been of the highest quality. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Callander and his team!!

I had several surgeries with Dr. Callander of the last ten years!! I have both hips and both knees replaced by him. The surgeries all went well and the staff at his office was outstanding. Left hip was afflicted with severe osteoarthritis, which resulted in impaired mobility and intermittent severe pain. Dr. Callander performed a total replacement a few months ago, which vastly improved my quality of life. The pain is gone and mobility is much improved. I'm grateful to Dr. Callander. In 2013 Dr Callander performed a posterior total right hip replacement. I was back to work in 3 weeks. In August 2024 I went back for an anterior total left hip replacement. Not a single complication - Dr Callander’s reassuring manner and my confidence from the prior experience made this a ready decision and fast recovery.
