Dr. Peter Kaye, MD

My husband and I had great experiences with Dr. Kaye. He came highly recommended by some friends in the medical field. He had good bedside manners, listened to our requests and was thorough. We will go back to Dr. Kaye for our future colonoscopies and recommend him. Also, his team did an amazing job! Our experiences were in December 2017.

Completely unprofessional and uncaring. Did not listen to my symptoms; stated that my previous doctor incorrectly diagnosed me with H. Pylori from a stool test, because the blood test was more accurate (completely wrong Dr Kaye). Gave me a blanket diagnosis of IBS, and said the rest was psychosomatic. I asked him to confirm if he was telling me that the brain fog, fatigue, tiredness, difficulty focusing, and lack of mental clarity was "all in my head", and he said yes. That's not all. He was clearly disinterested in helping me; he was 30 minutes behind schedule (I know, I waited), so I assume he wanted to get rid of me quickly. This was apparent by his short responses. After telling me that IBS is incurable, I asked "is there anything I can do to make it better or reduce symptoms?" He said "no" (full stop). He even told me that there's no science behind food intolerances and that some people are intolerant to KFC, Taco Bell, dark chocolate, etc. STEER CLEAR.

My husband and I saw Dr. Kaye back in Boulder a few years ago. Nice, nice, nice. Good patient support and wonderful at explaining what he's doing. Couldn't have a better doctor. Wish he lived here in Virginia!

This was my first colonoscopy so I was nervous. Had to wait quite a bit longer than expected. But, what really frustrated me was Dr Kaye. I only had one question— which was that I needed to let him know I had taken a pain pill the night before for an unrelated issue. I thought it important since they give you other opiates He was standing up and pushing back the curtain as I was asking. When I asked him to wait, he rolled his eyes. I found that to be disrespectful.

Misdiagnosed me and kept upping my PPI prescription. Not thorough at all. Didn't listen to symptoms and didn't see a VERY large Hiatal Hernia on an endoscopy. Saw another GI and had surgery to correct this problem. Go somewhere else.
