Best Healthcare Provider(s) I've ever had
I chose SouthPark Family Physicians because it was very close to where I worked. That was a long time ago. I'm retired now and even though I have to drive much farther, I'd drive twice as far to keep Dr. Mack as my primary provider. He explains everything very clearly and in as much detail as I need him to. He's not terse or rushed, he makes me feel like at that moment I'm the most important patient he has. Everyone at SFP makes me feel valued and respected, not just as a patient but also as a person. Dr. Mack, the other doctors, the ladies in the lab, the PAs, and the whole staff are just the best.

Missed diagnosis and lack of accountability
I presented myself both by phone and IN person with what ultimately was a DVTDr Mack did not diagnose this issueAfter 5 weeks I asked what was wrong. He said I don’t know and sent me to his partnerHis partner immediately sent me for a DVT scan and it was positiveNow because of delay I have significant scarring and partial lifetime blockage Novant internal investigation said his protocol was acceptable Fox watching the henhouse. No honesty

Dr. Mack is probably a good doctor, but I am still upset about my first (and only) appt. with him since reviewing old files today. I keep a health file which I was going through today trying to clear out & make space. Then I got to Dr. Mack's Novant file on me after we'd moved from Uptown to South Park. It was (maybe) professionally written (and I have friends in the medical profession). However, he deduced that I was probably bipolar because my youngest brother was & that I spoke with "forced speech". I had told him that my husband & I had JUST moved from Uptown to The Residence at SouthPark, I was very happy to be there & excited that I could actually follow my husband's instructions on how to walk there (he was on biz trip & I'm from Manhattan). He actually shoved his stool back & demanded to know why I was there. Answered "to establish new doctor/client relationship & happy I could just walk to office". He asked a few other questions & that was that. Never went back, never would.

Dr. Mack is the most competent physician I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He is Board Certified in Family Practice, and highly skilled in all the disciplines required of a Family Practitioner. Family Practice is, I think, the most difficult of all primary care medical specialties.

I have had one visit with Dr. Mack and had several email exchanges since appointment. He was outstanding, very thorough, took quite a bit of time with me. His was thoughtful, engaged and extremely intelligent. He was able to eradicate pain I was having in my hip through exercise, without surgery or meds, and gave a considered evaluation of cholesterol scores, taking all factors into account. Excellent appointment, remarkably good follow up.

I have seen Dr. Mack for the past couple of months and he has been excellent. Between following through with his exercise reccomendations and a change in medication he prescribed, I have lost over 15 lbs. and my blood pressure has been dramatically reduced.
