Waited 45 days to get an appointment (I am a previous patient) When I arrived, they told me that i did not have a referral that was required to see Optho. There has been no changes to my insurance, so Im wondering why I was never contacted by their office prior to the appointment to get the referral. Then was told, Im sorry but YOU will have to get referral. Dr Roney is great, but the staff not contacting prior is ridiculous. I am a nurse manager of a Cardiology practice on the windward side, and my staff wont even make an appointment for you without knowing if you need a referral prior

I am a visitor from Germany, who accidentally injured her left eye, that required a trip to the Castle Medical Center Emergency Room and continued care by Peter Roney MD, a competent and very professional Ophtalmologist with practices in both Kaneohe and Kailua. I needed to be seen every other day, often without an appointment and was always treated promptly with knowledge and compassion. The staff was also great and well trained. My eyes have always been problematic, from being extremely nearsighted as a child to a clot in my right eye to early onset cataracts, complicated by the choice to have lasik surgery. Dr. Roney was my opthalmologist in the 1990s and always offered wonderful and complete care whenever there was an issue. I returned to Dr. Roney's care recently because I felt the HMO I belonged to did not offer the kind of thorough evaluation that my eyes required and I am so glad I did.

Waited 8 weeks for an appointment and the staff cancelled it two days before claiming the doctor had a conference. Very unprofessional.

I needed cataract surgery in August and October 2015 and could not have been happier to have found such a wonderful doctor as Dr Peter Roney. His caring attitude and skills made it such an easy experience for me. I have the greatest respect for the service he and his surgical staff at the Windward Surgery Center provide.
