The Worst!
Not so much an indictment of Dr. Koi, although I have issues with him, but Chesapeake Urology is the WORST! Called the call center (which is conveniently located in the PHILIPPINES) to move my 96-year-old mother's (who has dementia and ambulatory issues) appointment to a virtual one. Not one, but two call center employees told me Dr. Koi does not schedule telehealth appointments. Waited 1.5 hours (in an exam room), only to be told he would be another half hour. When I complained--and left--he told me he does schedule telehealth appointments. More over, they NEVER call back or provide lab results when we've left samples. Rude front office people. I guess that's the price of doing business--AND IT'S BUSINESS, NOT PATIENT CARE--to Chesapeake Urology, a group that has monopolized the market in the DMV. Try to find another group of doctors, if you can.

We have been trying to reach Dr. Koi after we were turned away for a scheduled appointment. An error by staff scheduler. We spoke with two office managers, who agreed to accommodate us, and then we have never heard back from them. As much as we liked Dr. his staff is not responsive an incompetent. As an RN this is unacceptable care for my spouse. I guess we will start over. Looking for care. Be careful when scheduling. Keep your appointment cards and if you’re turned away, good luck!

Worst Urologist
I went to Dr. Koi with a urinary issue. He took a urine sample and sent me to an infectious disease doctor. There I was given lots of antibiotics and nothing helped. I called Dr. Koi's office to get some answers. Left 2 messages and no returned calls. I went to another urologist who found the problem by examining me. I have an issue with my anatomy. Dr. Koi never examined me and couldn't back up his findings of infection.

Appeared uninterested, cold, in a hurry. At one appointment , office called me and rescheduled, but did not change their internal calendar, made me wait 2 hours in office, doctor's attitude: ho-hum. Scheduled surgery, then cancelled day before - no followup.

Dr. Koi may be a good Dr. but the whole practice is oriented primarily toward making money. The PA was professional and kind but the staff was abrupt and ineffective. There isn't room to detail it all here but suffice it to say, I waited 2 1/2 hours to even enter the exam room, was never helped with labs, dismissed when I couldn't use their x-ray facilities (per insurance) and never called about test results. I have worked at a Dr.'s office and this is one of the worst run practices I've seen.

Dr. Koi is the 3rd Urologist I have seen in the last 2 years for a condition that hospitalized me for 15 days (5 ICU). I learned more in 2 sessions with him than all the several previous appointments with other Urologists in the last 1.5 years. I am younger for having such problems and he gave me several options considering my age. Highly Recommend!
