Wish I could give him zero stars
He is impossible to get a hold of him!!! He and his office staff do not care about theirpatients only the money! I have called over twenty times to get an appointment to fill my prescription and no one has called back. I haven’t seen him in months and he hasn’t called to see if I’m ok. Would NEVER go back to his practice.

Unbelievable!!
Telehealth
I am a current patient (or at least I thought) of Dr Sack. I met with him over a month and an half ago and haven’t heard back from him or the office since. I’ve left 5 messages in 7 days with no response. I’m out of meds and am going on two weeks without a very important med that I need. This is unbelievable and so uncaring for ANY health professional to be negligent like this to a patient. DO NOT SEE HIM FOR ANY REASON. There are other providers out there that surely care more than he does.

Unbelievably irresponsible!
Dr Sack is impossible to get a hold of. No one ever answers the phone. Messages are never returned even if it's urgent. This is terrible! My medication doesn't get refilled and I can't even make another appointment.

Don’t even bother with this doctor. The office never answers the phone. When leaving an urgent message, no one ever responds. I called 7 days in a row and at least 3 times to his answering service. It is beyond frustrating, especially for a psychiatrist’s office not to respond. He doesn’t even spend 5 minutes with you, but charges for a long visit. I have spoken to other patients and professionals about his dysfunctional office with the same experience. Deeply saddened about the lack of compassion. This clearly is not his calling in life.

Far less than pleasant to say the least. He and his staff never answer the phone. I have left detailed messages with his answering service (they seem to be very efficient and have relayed these messages to Dr. Sack. However, he either ignores them or simply doesn't care (or both). Recently, I ran out of a medication and had to act as the "intermediary" between my pharmacy, his office (no return calls) and the answering service. After having gone 6 days without the medication, he finally authorized a refill. By this time, I was extremely irritated by his inability to refill the prescription. After a week or so of this cat and mouse game, he finally answered the phone. I told him of the situation and he promptly replied "if you don't like it, get another psychiatrist. He then abruptly hung up on me.

Impossible to get in touch with his office. His secretaries must be the laziest people on the planet. Horrible.

Doctor Sack hates calling in refill scripts to the pharmacy. It's an enormous problem and he refuses to address it. Why should I leave multiple messages, call his answering service THEN put a note on his office door to get a simple script renewed? Yes, its CONTINUALLY THAT BAD. This isn't a "one off" situation. I wonder if he really prefers carrier pigeons or smoke signals! If you care about patients, you'll care about the refills YOU prescribe. He simply doesn't care.

Dr. Sack is an excellent Psychiatrist. He listens, is highly intelligent and compassionate. He explains treatment plans extremely well. I’ve been seeing him for 6 years and am satisfied with my level of care. However, his receptionist Michelle does not return calls or follows through on his instructions and that’s extremely frustrating.

I have had such a great experience here. For context, I was diagnosed with several conditions from his office, but he suggests a very holistic approach. I have been on several medications and he listened to me when I wanted to switch out or go off of certain ones. He recommends mindfulness, yoga, exercise, and counseling. All have been very important in helping my mental health. I see him monthly just to check in and he even does telephone calls for some! Overall great experience! The office staff is very nice too.

Be careful of Dr Sack. In 2016 I thought I was having a mid life crisis and having a mental breakdown which I have never had nor did I have any previous mental problems. Well I was tranferred from John Muir hospital to Mental Health and the first day I was there when I went to get my night time meds which I took Ativan for sleep they wouldn't give me any and said the Dr had taken it away from me. I didn't even meet the Dr yet. I was on Ativan for 5 years for sleep and he stopped it cold turkey. Well it stays in your system for 3 days so nothing was wrong it was the day I left hospital. Well on the 4th day my blood pressure shot up to over 200 I never had it over 120/80. well as time progressed I went absolutely bonkers and attempted suicide. My daughter told him I was suffering Ativan WD and I needed to be put bac on it and weened of properly OH no he thought I was bi-polar. Thank God I weened myself off all the meds he put me on to finally get back to be a healthy person.

Great most times. I just feel I’m on way too many medications and my depression, bi polar and anxiety don’t feel that much better! I told him I think I am on too many meds and he just said well think about how much worse I would be without them. *sigh* I’ve been going to him for almost 6 years now. I’ve been to the Outpatient program at JM that he is the department head and also over saw my meds while I was there. So I’ve built a good rep-or with him all these years. He is good about asking me questions to determine if he needs to do anything. He answers my questions and because I’m close with the staff there, I can usually get a hold of him or my meds get prescribed pretty quickly. He’s good though about giving me enough until the next time I see him. Yes the staff almost never answers the phone and there have been times I leave a message and get no answer back ever. But, that has only happened to me a hand full of times in the 6 years I’ve known him.

I have liked him a lot until about 3 weeks ago when I called his office to make an appointment. No one responded to my message. No one ever answers the phone so I have to always leave a message. I called 3 times more and sent him 3 emails, too. I was running out of the medications that he prescribes for me and no response to my many messages and emails for 3 weeks. I thought that if he didn't want to treat me anymore that he should have told. My PCP has now prescribed my meds. Very unprofessional and uncaring.

Dr Sack is a good Dr, but unfortunately this does not make up for his lack of professionalism. My review is like the others, I came to Dr Sack after moving to the East Bay. He continued to prescribe medications that I have taken for over a decade. For some reason, he called in my meds incorrectly this past month and 2 of them weren’t refillable. My pharmacy attempted to obtain a refill from him the week before Christmas and heard nothing back. I learned this the Monday before Christmas and began calling to correct this. It has now been 2 weeks and 3 days of leaving regular desperate messages and hearing nothing back. There is no message service and no Dr to cover while he is or simply not responding. I have been off my medications for weeks now which is incredibly uncomfortable and dangerous. Dr Sack is unprofessional and unethical for all the mistakes he made Through this process to get me to this point. You cannot trust him. It looks from the other reviews this is common for him.

Seems that the issues we have with this Doctor are a recurring theme: * It's almost impossible to talk to anyone at his office by phone. In the two years my daughter has been seen by him, his staff picked up the phone once, and they don't return calls/don't renew prescriptions. * He doesn't check for side effects or contra-indications when he prescribes new medication. I know that as patient you have a responsibility to check as well, but that's outright scary!
