Waited almost 3 months for an appointment then THEY cancelled it the 3 days before saying they cannot treat my condition. They didn’t even know why I was coming and 2 other doctors had said see a neurologist.

Excellent physician
I saw Dr. Amodeo after a referral from my orthopedic surgeon for neuropathy. He was excellent in reviewing my history and symptoms. He scheduled me for lab work and testing with follow-up. It was interesting reading the negative comments, almost all of which focused on his communication skills. Having been born in New York and having a number of relatives in the Northeast, I felt like he was a typical New Yorker - straightforward, but thorough and ready to understand. Whatever front office problems that may have existed in the past are just that - inn the past. I found all of the staff - clinical and front office - friendly and easy to deal with. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to friends or family.

Very rude receptionist, poor office mgmt
My mother saw Dr Amodeo for 10 minutes in the hospital when she had a stroke. She was instructed to see him in his office as soon as possible after her hospital discharge. The soonest appointment they would provide was over 2 months later. They called & cancelled her appt & they would have to reschedule. The soonest was for 6 weeks later. So my mother, who had had a stroke, couldn’t see a neurologist for over 3 months. We inquired if she could see another doctor in the practice and we were rudely told that their internal policy was that if you have seen any doctor at any time, you are not allowed to see another doctor. After that initial appt, 3 months post hospital discharge, a follow up appointment was scheduled for 6 months later. They called & again cancelled the appointment forcing us to reschedule again. At this point, we were so disgusted that we did not return.Ultimately, my mother, who had had a stroke, saw this doctor one time in the 12 months after having a stroke.

He didn’t listen well. Told me that an ailment I’d been diagnosed with ten years ago wasn’t a proper diagnosis. He said this without scheduling testing to back him up. Very dismissive.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit with Dr. Amodeo. I felt like he truly listened to everything I said to him and responded to my concerns with a great deal of knowledge and patience. He answered all my questions and provided me with the information I needed. I noticed a funny thing about the reviews here. Most of the ones that were negative declined to put their name on their review whereas the ones that were positive were quick to put their name on theirs. Personally, if a doctor doesn't meet my expectations of what he or she should be like professionally I have no hesitation to identify myself in my complaints. That makes me question if their concerns had any validity or if the bad reviews were written by those people you couldn't please if your life depended on it??? I'm just saying...............

My experience with Dr. Amodeo lasted no more than 10 minutes before I walked out of his office. There are many doctors out there who genuinely care about patients and want to help. In my opinion, Dr.Amodeo is not one. I do not need to tolerate his aggressive and condescending behavior. It’s a shame medical school did not teach proper “bedside manners” or rather, maybe that should have been learned at home.

I was referred to Dr Amodeo at one of the most horrific times in my life. I had A LOT of questions, being newly diagnosed with epilepsy. He has never been anything but kind, understanding and patient with me. I have seen MANY doctors in my life (also living with narcolepsy and Ehlers Danlos). I trust him, and I highly recommend him!

I had BAD headaches 24/7 for 8 months. Tried PT & massages. MRI showed a Chiari Malformation, so I drove to see a Jacksonville neurosurgeon. My MRI showed NO CM. Bummed — and still in pain. First time I saw Dr Amodeo, he ordered blood tests. I questioned if he were a real doctor. Odd communication skills. So I researched him. Then gave him 1 last chance. With his advice, I was PAIN FREE in a week. Now I take 1 pill if the headache returns —.3 in 6 months! I won’t see anyone else! He’s a Genius.

Dr. Amodeo is probably very good at what he does but, he has no basic idea how to talk to patients in common language. He deluges you with technical terms and when you question what they are he looks at and treats you like you are some kind of 3rd grade drop-out. If he is not sure of a diagnosis or doesn't believe or understand the issue he immediately goes to Psychiatric Issue. (there must be something in your past making this happen). Find someone who does not demean you.

I'm surprised by the negative comments. I have been to Dr Amodeo several times over the last three years and have found him to be very personable. He generally spends at least 20 minutes with me and answers all questions without appearing impatient, explains everything in detail and is friendly and approachable. I would certainly recommend him if I knew of anyone needing a neurologist.

I experienced medical symptoms for months and saw a couple of physicians. Dr. Amodeo ordered many test and scans. He got to the bottom of it. He called me personally with my results. I have not had that happen in sometime! A great doctor who is very knowledgeable. Recommended to my family.

I am a Registered Nurse with 'several years' experience. This doc is a JERK. I was there for Tremors, confirmed by my primary care. He told me the referral was for headaches (which I do suffer chronic migraines). He was asking me how this and that medication worked - I had NEVER taken these medications!! I conveyed this to him stating you must have someone else's information, he didn't even review the paperwork and he says 'so why are you here' NEVER AGAIN, NO, NO, NO

He is very arrogant and kind of makes fun of me. I went to him with neck and pain problems but he said my primary physician said I was there for restless leg syndrome. So I told him that I was having headaches, he had a CAT Scan done. He told me he didn't see anything. I went back and he said he doesn't take care of headaches, no neurologist does .
