Dr. Phillip Lindholm, MD

Decided that my college-age son's symptoms stemmed from a mental disorder while we kept saying for 3 years something is very wrong that causes him daily pain and issues. He would only prescribe anti-anxiety med (which he didn't need), didn't run any tests at all till I absolutely insisted right before we left, and literally said, 'you are never going to figure this out' which left us hopeless. He put in his medical record that he had 'rumination syndrome' (basically labeling my son psychotic) because it helped to lay down and force himself to vomit up air after meals to relieve pressure. He said that laying down after meals would only make any GI issue worse. We switched doctors and those 2 self-help measures are classic for those with R-CPD (which he had). One small surgical procedure later to loosen a valve and my son is completely healed. Dr. Lindholm's baseless conclusion that my son was mental while we were continually asking for help caused him 3 years of needless misery.

He has a great bedside manner. Not all Drs do, he does!!

Dr. Lindholm was the only gastro I have seen at MNGI who listened enough to my concerns to figure out what was going on with me, and that was during my first visit. He is always looking for new ways to be of help and is open to other providers and my input.He genuinely is kind, caring, humble, and thoughtful. I’m so blessed to have him for my gastro. He has greatly improved my life and for that, I am forever grateful.

It was an awkward exchange from beginning to end. However, by the time we wrapped up, there was a game plan for moving forward. Again, I was there at your direction but I felt like my appointment was definitely an intrusion.

I had a telehealth appointment with Dr. Lindholm. He is warm and kind and seems to really care that we get my digestive issues figured out. He isn't giving up on me and seems ready to keep trying. I very much appreciate him.
