Dr. Prashanth Mally, MD

I have chronic lower back pain that included sciatica pain for which I had an injection for. My sciatica pain disappeared. Unfortunately the rest of my pain did not, and after being dismissed by another doctor, I reached back out to Dr. Mally. He knew what the problem was and had me schedule another procedure. I received a phone call the next day as well as an email with instructions for before my procedure. From check-in to discharge, he and his team treated me with care and respect.

I have severe chronic back pain and was going for my first steroid injection. I got instructions on 10/25 via phone (the appointment was 11/14). I did not see any follow-up in my Kaiser portal or via email since then. When I arrived, I informed the staff that I stopped taking my medicine Friday (this appointment was Monday morning) -- which resulted in a weekend of bed rest and pain. Flabbergasted and irritated - Dr. Mally reacted very negatively and said "you were given clear instructions to stop 4 days before by my staff" to which I replied I never received proper communication and showed him my emails and portal messages proving such. He was very crass and spoke to me as if I was careless. I tried to explain to him that I see 7 doctors and am doing my best to keep up with everything, to which he said "I have several other patients I need to see today." I left crying with him STILL insinuating I was wrong via a printed notes page shoved in my face. Do not go to him if you appreciate empathy and compassion from your medical staff.

I was sent to Dr. Mally for chronic pain management. He consistently ignored what I had to say, to instead suggest things I had already declined due to past experience (and explained these experiences), or to offe “solutions” that made it clear he did not believe I was actually in any real pain. Zero sympathy, zero empathy, zero interest in what a patient has to say.

I wish I never had him. he tells me to lose weight but I was always slightly heavy even before my car accident. I had a wonderful MD before him, but had to change because of my insurance. the only thing that he offers me as treatment is steroid injections that never worked for me. I was on pain medication for two years before changing to KP and never had a problem with managing it. I've gone almost 7 months with Mally and jumping thru hoops with him and still nothing.
