I don’t usually leave negative reviews but I’m making this exception. My 18 year old (college bound) has a learning disability and wants to start self advocating and seeing doctors alone. This was His first visit alone to a new neurologist for his epilepsy, referred to help titration of his current epilepsy medication. He came out of this 40 minute appointment sobbing. A lot. He just kept repeating the doctor “talked really fast, didn’t believe me, and wouldn’t listen to me.” I am usually willing to give second chances, benefit of the doubt- not this time. No excuses for this one.

Overmedicated for years
I saw Dr. Farooque when I was younger. She put me on trileptal & lamictal, 1-2 seizures/year. I was on over 1000mg. One of my trileptal levels came back at 79 when the range was 3-35. When I switched doctors she was absolutely shocked to see that I was still on that medication. I said every visit that had double vision and I slept a majority of the day. Dr Farooque told me that’s a normal side effect. When I moved to Mass, I switched neurologists. She did a MRI, routine, ambulatory & inpatient EEG. Which she said wasn’t in my medical records from Yale. I never knew anything about my epilepsy prior to the new doctor. After a few medication switches, I finally found something that works for me. I’m only on 300 mg, no side effects. Now 8 months seizure free, this is the longest I have ever been. I’m not too sure why Dr. Farooque never listened to my mom & I’s concerns. Just very upsetting to know that I didn’t have to be on that much medication. Remember to always self advocate!!

Never feel rushed, and she always asks all the right questions. Often I will forget something but she seems to remember the important things! I love her patience and willingness to work with me to achieve success in life! Very compassionate, intelligent Dr!

I had an appointment with Dr. Farooque. She was really nice and helpful. She was not very flexible with her schedule because we tried to schedule the appointment for the afternoon and a different date, but they said she only worked in the morning. We also had to wait about 20 minutes after we were called to see her.

Met with Dr. Farooque when my daughter had an overnight VEEG. She was very nice and understood my daughter's rare epilepsy syndrome.
