Sad experience
Our experience with Dr. Middleton was not a favorable one. We found her temperamental & unwilling to work with us in regard to choices in our medical care. She would order medical tests & then have her office call to tell us plan of care. No conversation or willingness for us to enter into our own course of action. When we expressed misgivings, at the height of Covid, she sent my husband & I a letter dropping our care. She intimated in the letter we were not welcome to use Mercy doctors within her building. This was at the beginning of cancer treatment for me & we were in a precarious position with Covid. In my vulnerable moments with Dr. Middleton, she & her nurse ridiculed & embarrassed me when I showed them a spot on my body saying “eww” like a couple of JH girls in unison. Consequently, they broke my trust for future treatments. I share this only to protect & help others. There are other wonderful Mercy doctors available. The care we now receive is night & day difference.

False Claims
Dr. Middleton falsified my medical records in 2016, and then again in 2022 and 2023 resulting in me losing my health insurance. I was never properly diagnosed or treated to match her false claims of depression in 2016, nor was I ever advised of her actions to falsely claim I had depression. It wasn’t until December of 2023 that I even learned of their false claims. It was at that time I received a letter from my insurance company stating I had a “history” of depression and that they were dropping me as a customer. Upon digging into all of my medical records I found that during 3 visits in 2016 Dr. Middleton falsely claimed I had depression. I saw Dr. Middleton 3 times in 2018, 3 times in 2019, 1 time in 2020, and 1 time in 2021 and she did not mention or code anything about depression in any of these visits. Furthermore proving the claims of depression are completely false.

At first, Dr. Middleton seemed to be a great physician. She took time to listen to you and did not rush you. After a few visits, I started to notice that she did not communicate well. She also is "test happy", meaning that she always wants to have labs, x-rays, etc... not worrying about the cost. It is also frustrating that she expects you to come for visits when she could prescribe meds for you without the need to come and see her. Very often she is extremely late (you generally have to wait 45 minutes or more). As time went by, there were more and more problems communicating: ordering refills at a pharmacy that is 10/15 miles away from my usual pharmacy, or not ordering refills at all when she said she would. In all fairness though, I think the whole Mercy system has been going downhill for the last 5 or 6 years.
