Great doctor
I have read some negative reviews here about Dr R. She has been my doctor for over a year now. I have found her to be courteous, kind and extremely knowledgeable. She is actually my third oncologist since my cancer diagnosis five years ago. My first oncologist got sick and had to retire. My second one left the area and strongly recommended that I switch over to Dr. R. I am not sorry that I did. I think she is a wonderful doctor. I work in healthcare myself, and I see her as responsible and proficient at her job. I am grateful for her and her amazing staff.

Oncology dir. so I’m sure she is qualified BUT
Went to her for follow up care for colon resection post Stage 2. Surgeon wanted onc. follow up for lesion noted before surgery. Surgeon and primary docs both told me no chemo would be necessary because of the success of surgery. I was expecting to get consult and baseline scans. As soon as I sat down she said it was likely she would want me to do adjunctive chemo after scan results. I kept asking questions and the more she talked the more she confused me. Her bedside manner is terrible She ordered repeat ct when I had one just a month before She used a wrong name for me in her clinical notes She wouldn’t give me any info on the phone even tho I couldn’t access reports on my portal After my follow up was over I contacted my surgeon immediately for a referral for a dr in Albany. It will be worth driving the distance as needed. After going through diagnosis, surgery etc no one should be subjected a bonus 2 weeks of that level of stress.

She got mad when I asked a question about a certain medication took forever to test my perfectly healthy liver before she addressed my actual blood disease which she never did. and simply walked out of the exam room and slammed the door when I asked a maybe naive question. She does not belong in the medical profession.

Wait times are very long, including an hour or more half dressed in a frigid exam room ....every single time. Computers never are updated with information which is repeated time after time. Nurses can be nice or surly depending on the day (those in the infusion center are uniformly kind however). The infusion center is crowded despite covid other patients are within a couple of feet. Side effects are continually understated or not discussed at all and then when complained about told to just throw more of the same drug at it. Asking for questions about something you have never experienced is not as helpful as providing answers prophylactically. All pain, discomfort, sickness and inconvenience (low estimate 50 hours of wait time) for the past ten months has been from ‘treatment’ not the cancer.

I think Dr. Rachamalla is more concerned with making money than the welfare of her patients. I don't think she remembers people and asks the same questions over and over. She is very reluctant to reduce or remove medications and treatments when they are no longer necessary. I would not recommend her to anyone.

Prescribes the wrong medication! Not pleasant, and not good at her job. Her hubris overshadows her inability to see the mistakes she makes, and it's at the cost of the patient. I don't throw this word out there often with medical professionals, but she is DANGEROUS
