1st saw Dr. Makkenchery in 2016 for treatment of an internal abdominal MRSA infection discovered about a month after a hysterectomy performed by another surgeon. My husband made the mistake of asking Dr. M. if it was possible something had happened during the surgery to cause the infection. All Dr. M. did was shrug his shoulders. After that, his treatment of me was very cold & perfunctory & he even ignored when I showed him severe swelling in the leg & ankle on the same side as the infection. At the next visit, he removed the drain from my abdomen & told me I could go & did not need to come back. I had to ask him to cover the hole where the drain had been & he gave me a bandaid. Again, he dismissed me & I then showed him that the swelling was no better. He sent me for an ultrasound, where it was discovered that I had a blood clot - the 1st & only one I've ever had - in the groin at the juncture of the femoral vein & another vein. He refused to do anything & told me to call my PCP.

Be ready for uncontrolled post-op pain because he will send you home with a recommendation for ibuprofen (even when contraindicated) and acetaminophen (fever reducer). My wife had surgery with him. He cut corners (like failed to do a CBC the morning of the surgery that her hematologist asked for; this resulted in her waking up covered in blood) and will give you nothing to control post-op pain. Also, he did a terrible job lining up the incisions (he was running late and already had complications
