I am writing this review following an extremely frustrating experience related to billing and communication after a routine annual physical with Dr. Raksha Nepal on December 13, 2024. I scheduled this appointment strictly as a preventive care visit, with no active concerns or requests for diagnosis or treatment. The appointment was expected to be fully covered by insurance. However, I was later charged $150.80 for an office visit and $723.38 for lab work, in addition to a $57.72 Vitamin D test that I knowingly agreed to pay. During the visit, Dr. Nepal accessed my medical history through the EPIC system, which surprised me, as I had not explicitly authorized this access. In response, I casually asked whether some past events—like a knee injury and appendix surgery—were visible. I did not ask for any evaluation or advice related to these items. I assumed, as most patients would, that discussing general past medical history in the context of a physical was standard practice and part of establishing care—not something that would trigger a separate billing code. The prescription refill I requested was for a longstanding, non-urgent condition and was not part of any new concern. Yet, I later found that this, too, contributed to the office visit charge—again, with no warning or clarification during the appointment. As for the lab work, I was never informed that any part of it would fall outside routine screening or result in out-of-pocket charges. I only consented to the Vitamin D test, and even Dr. Nepal herself expressed surprise at the lab fees when I brought them to her attention afterward. She assured me that she would follow up with the billing department, but despite several discussions and a formal appeal, the charges remain unresolved. What’s most disappointing is the lack of transparency and patient communication throughout this experience. I’ve tried multiple times to clarify and resolve this respectfully, but I’ve only encountered delays, inconsistent responses, and ultimately no accountability. This has created unnecessary stress and left me facing over $870 in unexpected charges—for what should have been a straightforward, preventive visit. I’m sharing this to help future patients ask more specific billing questions in advance and to urge this office to improve its clarity, transparency, and follow-through. Patients deserve to understand what they’re being charged for—especially when they believe they’re attending a covered preventive visit.

Saw Dr. Nepal at Evergreen regarding high blood pressure. We changed my meds and the order was called in to Fred Meyer pharmacy with no issues at all. This was my first time seeing the doctor and I would have no hesitation to schedule a return visit - we even had a moment to chit/chat about our time in Monroe. The doc was personable and warm.
