Has a serious cell phone addiction
Dr. Kancherla is knowledgeable and will spend adequate time with patients. However, his good qualities are overshadowed by his attachment to his cell phone. He cannot resist checking on it literally every 2 minutes. This has been the case with every office visit. It was extremely disturbing to watch my relative be told they may have only 6 months to live while the doctor was simultaneously sneaking glances at his phone. If Dr. Kancherla could learn to leave his cell phone out of the exam room I would give him a much higher rating.

My doctor for 20-years and a real lifesaver.
I'm a current patient and have been a patient of Dr. Kancherla for 20 years. I have the utmost respect and gratitude for all he's done to identify, treat, monitor, and keep my leukemia (CLL) in remission throughout that time. He listens and answers questions with explanations you can understand, and I value his knowledge and expertise. He almost seems like an extended family member after 20 years of regular visits every 3 months to oversee and monitor an uncurable blood cancer.

Oncology MD
I am a registered nurse and my husband is receiving chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer. Dr. Kancherla has handled the treatment and helped us to understand the ups and downs of chemo. He gave us the options for treatment and agreed with my husbands choice. We are very happy that he is taking care of him. He has been chosen one of Hudson Valleys doctors of distinction in Hudson Valley Magazine. Again we are very happy with Dr. Kancherla.

Man Falls Asleep During My Visit
Saw Kancherla at the request of my surgeon and upon meeting him he looked as if he just woke up at my noon time appointment. Right away he was wanting more tests that had already been done. Slowly his speech became incoherent and then he just started mumbling very quietly. When I said DOCTOR KANCHERLA! his head snapped back and he woke up. I hope this type of visit has only happened to me and not anyone else. I'm not going back.

When I called for an appointment after having a bilateral pulmonary embolism they literally said, "we prioritize oncology patients." My condition or the fact that the hospital referred me to him at discharge (to be seen within the week) meant nothing. I found a doctor that prioritized me and the severity of my condition. I never saw Kancherla, but the other hematologist wanted to see me within days, not a month later.

Awful doctor. Went to see him and we spent over an hour there before walking out with no help. He spoke with his back towards us, sneezing and coughing the entire time. He did not look through any paperwork necessary given to me by my primary physician and dismissed anything I had said. He simply does not care. Refused to listen and acknowledge our concerns, also used bad language?! Never again I should’ve listened to the reviews.

Dr. Kancherla treated my dad who passed away 9/28 of this year. Dr. Kancherla is the most unsympathetic doctor I have met. Given his area of specialty, his bedside manner was zero. Any or all side effects my dad got from chemo, Dr. Kancherla would always refer my dad to another doctor for side effects from a chemo that Dr. Kancherla recommended and my dad would use. That is unheard of! Also, Dr. Kancherla would always defend the inconsistent Radiology reports from Vassar Hospital and there were many inconsistencies! Do your research before picking a Oncologist.

I read all these negative reviews and I have to say our experience was at the utmost professional level. My husband is diagnosed with a rare synovial sarcoma and after surgery and chemo and radiation this cancer reared its ugly head to his lungs...traveling back and forth to Manhattan was to much for my husband. We were referred here from Sloans and Dr Kancherla, who we found to have a great bedside manner, and his staff they have been absolutely wonderful. Lots of behind the scenes paperwork prior auth etc etc was done in a timely manner. All of my calls to this center were answered and the follow through from the staff was excellent. So so far so good.

Terrible doctor. When you go to see a hematologist or oncologist, you’ve already seen several doctors that have led you to this point. Dr. Kancherla has gaslighted me, withheld significant information regarding my health, and spoken down to me repeatedly instead of answering my questions. Do not go to him. If you are assigned him as a hematologist by a hospital or referring physician, like I was, request a different physician or practice.

I've had to go back to Dr. K. Every three months for blood test results for a blood disorder. He never explains anything and when I ask I get the feeling that it's an annoyance. I'm fed up with him and the NP coming into the examining room, pointing to things on my blood test results, with a grave look on their faces and never explaining it to me. As for the facility, remnants of papers on the walls that were never taken down completely and frayed and torn vinyl.

He's a horrible human being!!!! I wish they had negative stars he would get one. The woman he hired to be an office manager is on the same scale as him. A match made in heaven.

Without telling me, they gave me Dr. Kancherla for one appointment when my regular doctor was not there. I would have been much better off if they had cancelled my appointment. He was rude and I don't even know why. It was like he was angry at me. He didn't keep me long and I went straight out and told the front desk that if my regular doctor wasn't there, they had better tell me. No way was I was seeing Dr. Kancheria a second time.

Do not use this doctor or the center. He has spoken harshly to me as well. The techs are nasty, uncaring. If your numbers go down after chemo they blamed me. I was there for 3 months hospitalized twice no thanks to this doctor. He never responded to my daily calls first hospital stay. It took him 7 days to answer the hospital’s request. 2 months later I felt so sick he told me not to go to ER. I did my body was shutting down. 5 or more doctors saved me. I am going to Dyson cancer center now.

Worst oncologist and oncology practice EVER! Thisbdictir actually was yelling at my dad (stage 1V pancreatic cancer). Yelling. I couldn't believe when my brother told me how this doctor was treating my dad. And there were three witnesses there. I called the practice manager and left a detailed complaint with her assistant and I never got a call back. Every time the nurse calls me, they have the biggest attitude. I can't believe this practice even operates. Please don't use this practice!!!
