Smart but difficult to communicate with
This person is not only the most difficult person to communicate with he's a bully and intolerant person. If you admitted make a mistake this guy continually reminds you of the mistake. When you ask for help if he's not interested he'll deflect to others and take no responsibility.

Knowledgeable
My husband has been seeing Dr Gil for about a year now. I've read the reviews and disagree with the bad ones. I find him brilliant in the field of Parkinson's. My husband's symptoms greatly improved almost immediately. Dr Gil has also recommended a pain management doctor and a neurosurgeon which have both been positive therapies in addition to the medicine Rytary.

Wow! Amazing Doctor!
Southwest Florida is lucky to have such a knowledgeable Parkinson’s specialist! My father’s first appointment was extensive and thorough. Dr. Gil explained the progression of the disease, discussed other parts of the body affected, and prescribed a longer-lasting medication to treat my dad’s symptoms. Scans and therapy will follow. I am so grateful to have found Dr. Gil! 5 out of 5, without hesitation!

He seems like he would be better suited to do research instead of see patients. He is very smart, but has a very poor bedside manner. He does know the latest research and medications. He speaks at you, barely lets you get a word in or ask a question. A doctor should have a dialog with the patient to find out how they are doing and be able to ask questions about complex medications. One time my father had a medical crisis regarding his Parkinsons medications, I tried for weeks to get a hold of the doctor. Eventually he called me, said what he had to say and then hung up on me. Didn't let me respond or ask questions. A doctor should be able to answer questions to find out the needs of the patients. These are real humans not lab subjects, he doesn't seem to understand that. The staff isn't very helpful either and difficult to get anyone on the phone. Last time I scheduled an appointment I had to find someone to take him, then when he got there the office was closed early with no notice.

Dr Gil was very rude and unprofessional in our opinion. My wife told his staff when making the appointment days ago she was not vaccinated. Upon entering the room he immediately asked if she had the vaccine, which she said no. Dr Gil then proceeded to berate her decision. This was his only question before stating the test. He was very rough physically in handling a lady whose complaint was pain in her hands, and completed a nerve test we were told would probably take 1-2 hours in 30 minutes or less. Before the exam was over he said he would not be seeing anyone else who didn’t have the COVID vaccine. We would have left any business if treated this way but doctors can blacklist you, plus you pay at the door. I would implore any prospective patient to get a different doctor. Also I have never left a bad review about any physician and between my wife, mom, and myself we’ve seen a few bad ones, but never like this!

I've just read all the above reviews for Dr. Gil. I can now say that I've had the pleasure of experiencing all of Dr. Gil's qualities listed on them, GOOD and BAD!?? The best part is that he prescribed Rytary which thankfully stopped my shaking. For that I thank you (grazie) Dr. Gil! On my last visit though, we had a little fall out! At the door the sign said to wear a mask, so I put one on. To my surprise, nobody was wearing one. He asked, "Why are you wearing a mask? Did you get your vaccine?" Of course, STUPID me, I didn't want to lie. So, he told me he will not see me anymore until I get the Covid vaccine. At this point, I don't know if I will or not, that's MY choice, and I have to think about it! I don't know if anyone at the office will read this, but, regardless, I want to thank every body, especially Marie. She is great, friendly, caring, understanding, with great people's skills, in short, an assett to Dr. Gil's office.

Does not work well with "Snowbirds". Very defensive towards primary care doctors advice. Poor "bedside" manner. I was told all these characteristics in advance, but went anyway --- mistake. Must be difficult to work for as the staff I encountered changed often during my time using him.

After reading the reviews, I was tempted to cancel my appointment, but Dr. Gil had been referred by another doctor that I trusted. I'm glad I went. Dr. Gil literally saved my life. The first appointment with him was three hours long. He took me off a medication that another movement disorder specialist have put me on. He stated that the medication would make my symptoms worse. He was right. He gave me his personal cellphone number. He called numerous times to check on me , and always called back when I called him. He is a caring doctor who is not afraid to show his feelings. His staff shows the same qualities. They are so easy to talk to and it is obvious that they respect him. He always explains what he wants to do and why. I thank God on a doily basis for Dr Gil who gave me back a quality of life I never thought I would see again.

Talk about somebody full of himself being rude disrespectful a doctor that doesn't listen to his patient. I said you're not listening to me he got angry and shut down teleconference told me to find find another doctor. That was after the first time he called me back when he just plain hung up on me I thought he was calling back to tell me that he didn't mean to hang up on me when in fact he was just calling back to be more miserable. I should have known when he recommended the very first office visit I had he recommended to take me off blood pressure pill that ended up putting me into a situation where I had a dissected aorta due to hypertension

Let me start by saying, I left his office with my husband and my head was pounding from the most rudest man, I have ever encountered. Instead of allowing the caregiver to tell what was happening with my husband, after he asked, “What brings you here?”,all he wanted to do was key in on dates. He cut me off when I was about to tell him my husband’s walk pattern. Now, I'm the sole caregiver to my husband who has dementia, and putting up with a very rude doctor, is not what I expected. He must think that HIS WAY OR NO WAY, because of the way he attacked me verbally. He also wants to know exact years, which I was off by ONE year, when he asked another question that didn’t coincide with the first year, I gave. I said I was sorry but I was off one year, and boy did he let me know that I was wrong. All I can say is you can stand his behavior of being self- absorbed then you might be okay. I would never recommend this doctor !!!

Dr Gil actually saved my husbands life, after visiting 3 other neurologists he was able to solve the problem . He tells it like it is. Be prepared to listen to what he has to say and don't concentrate on his mannerisms( which I thought were very professional).

We were given Dr Gil’s name by referral service. He was arrogant, belligerent and, at one point, without having done any examination of the patient, said one of her meds was wrong and through it down the sink. He later replaced the pills but told us to leave and never come back. That’s fine with us because he has the temperament of a snake.

I had my first visit with Dr. Gil. It was quite an experience. I had a comprehensive interview, a thorough physical exam. He spoke extensively about the probable cause for my symptoms. Explained thoroughly the findings on my MRI and justification for changing medications and addtional blood work and testing. Thru out all of this in thus first visit, with a firm hand in advising, he managed to communicate that he cared for me as a person. I feel truly lucky to have found him.

Very pleased with my first visit. He suggested Rytary and Azilect (Rasagiline) which I hadn't heard of from other Parkinson's neurologists. Told me a lot about alternative medication regimes. Very comprehensive physical tests. Said to talk to my wife before making any medication changes, which is first time I've heard that.
