The Straw that Broke the Patients Back
I've been a patient of Dr. Schurtz's for over 10 years. Recently, I had the visit that indicated it's time to make a change. After seeing my Oncologist for four and a half years, she told me after the five year mark, I no longer need to take daily medication and see her every six months. My cancer has an extremely low chance of recurring. YAY! She said I could follow up with my primary care or continue to see her (my Oncologist) annually. So, since I see Dr. Schurtz every six months, I thought it would be easy to do a check on how I'm feeling with Dr. Schurtz. In my last appointment with Dr. Schurtz I asked about planning for the change and incorporating it into my regular appointments with her. Dr. Schurtz said, "If she can tell me what to look for, I'll be happy to do it". (Not the first time she reacted in an argumentative manner to a Specialist). As a patient, how does one respond to that? I have lost all confidence in Dr. Schurtz. Her attitude is deplorable.

Dr. Schurtz is a nice person but I have not gone back in over 2 years because of my last visit with her. She was trying to tell me that I should looking into essential oils and was trying to get me to come to a class that she was offering instead of actually talking about my depression and why I was there. My mother had even stopped seeing her years ago for similar reasons. The office staff is pleasant and I felt like they've helped me more over the years than she has.

I have been seen by Dr. Schurtz two times & both have left feeling absolutely terrible about my experience. The first time she was extremely rude & argued with me about whether I needed a referral to see a specialist or not. She immediately had an attitude when I suggested she may be wrong & made me feel extremely uncomfortable. Had I remembered her name I would have never agreed to the second visit with her when calling for an emergency appointment. Not only did she make me feel worse about a situation regarding mental health that I already felt weak & vulnerable about, she completely lacked compassion towards my situation & made me feel ashamed & like I was seeking drugs rather than medicine to help ease my anxiety before two important imaging tests I had scheduled. She then worsened the situation by claiming to have sent two prescriptions over but only sent one, the one that takes weeks to go in effect. I called asking about the other one that I needed & never heard back. Worst dr.

I have been very unhappy with the care given by Dr. Schurtz. She does not take the patients needs into consideration. She caused a delay in a necessary, planned surgery because she refused to look at blood test results that she had had in her possession for 3 months. She is lazy & incompetent & has no bedside manner. She is judgemental about health issues. I would expect more compassion and understanding from a doctor, not the mean girl highschoolish type of behavior shown by Dr. Schurtz.

She refused to take the necessary steps to ensure i got the medical care i needed. During a disagreement over which doctor (her or my orthopedic surgeon) should appeal an insurance decision regarding an mri ( that SHE ordered) her response was "Why should I have to do another doctors job" A Doctors job is to ensure a patient gets the care they need. Not argue over "who's job it is". This is just one example but it sums up her level of care perfectly
