Dr. Ray Blanco, MD

Dr Blanco is super diligent and a great Dr. He quickly diagnosed my cancer and started treatment within a week or so. After finding that it spread from my tonsils to my lymphnodes he performed a radical neck disection. This is a very tough surgery that took 15hrs to complete. I recovered pretty quickly and was sent to swallow therapy which I am still going to. I would highly recomend Dr Blanco to anyone who is suffering from this awful diease. He is the best Dr for this type of problem.

After a fall and broken nose landed me in Carroll County Hospital ER, a CT scan showed a known thyroid nodule had calcified. My amazing primary care Dr. Scheduled me with Dr. Blanco. He scheduled a fine needle biopsy which resulted in 50% cancer- Left thyroid lobectomy was scheduled. Dr.Blanco took great care and performed my surgery flawlessly. He is an expert in his field and I am so greatful to have found him. 4 days post op now and I feel great. You can put your trust in Dr. Blanco!

Very thorough exam and explanation of treatment options before deciding on surgical removal of tonsils. Efficient scheduling and great surgical experience and after care once the surgery was scheduled. Compassionate support before, during, and after surgery by all care giving staff day of surgery and during the one night stay at hospital. Follow up visits were concise and thorough. Given my age (73 yrs.), I had intense anxiety about this procedure feared bleeding problems would occur. Instead I had manageable pain and no bleeding during the three weeks of recovery. Great job by Dr. Blanco and the staff of GBMC!

Dr. Blanco is very thorough in his explanation of treatment options, risks, and benefits of procedures. He allowed me to make an informed decision about my care, and took time to discuss with me why he recommended one treatment over another. I was confident that I was in good hands, and my surgery went well.

I have been treated by Dr. Blanco since 7/2019 for my tonsil cancer. He explained all my options clearly and gave me all the information needed to make my informed decision. I elected surgery since it was found very early. He performed surgery and has been monitoring my progress ever since. He is very responsive when I needed to reach him. I HIGHLY recommend him to anyone who has to deal with head and neck cancer.

Dr. Blanco is a very careful, caring doctor. He tells you straight, no sugar coating, how to resolve the issue. I have had thyroid surgery twice and a trach placed due to narrowing of my airway. After following his treatment guidance, the trach has been removed. He is serious about his patients and the patient always comes first. I trust him 110% with his skill and knowledge. I highly recommend him and his staff.

Today was, I hope, my last visit to the Head and Neck Center. I have been followed there for 20 years, following treatment for laryngeal cancer. Dr. Blanco continues my experience of excellent care from all the clinicians I've seen there over the years: he is so very kind and gentle; has time to answer my questions; respects my wishes; attends to not just my throat and larynx, but all of me. He trust me, so I trust him! I recommend him very, very highly -- you will be lucky to have him in your medical team!

Before I went to see Dr Blanco, I checked his reviews and I don't agree with the negative reviews. All I have was positive experiences with him. I will recommend him to my family without reservation.

I was referred to Dr Blanco by my primary care for a tumor in throat. He was nice, unhurried, kind, compassionate, and even help me out of the seat and my coat. He discussed in detail the treatment options. He explained things in layman term. He did not force me to one option instead he encouraged me and referred me to another non-surgical specialist that deal with throat cancer to make my decision. I decide to go with him and happy with my results. As a businessman dealing with people and business group, I check on his reviews and majority were happy with him with good results. I find one negative comment, but all were very appreciative and positive with him. I could not agree more with the positive reviews. He answered my question over the phone and portal quickly and concisely. I agree with the majority that he is an excellent doctor and recommend him anytime to other patients and my family.

I have attempted to contact Dr. Blanco twice and not heard back from him on the Patient Portal. I have an upcoming appointment and have question in that regard. This lack of communication makes me question his level of care for me as a patient.

I recently had surgery with Dr. Blanco. Based off off of several great reviews I chose him. However, I was quite disappointed with the outcome. My initial consultation was great he answered my questions explained the procedure and took his time. The scheduling coordinator was great very pleasant and personable.i was able to schedule surgery within a couple of weeks in which I liked. Pre op testing: had to call several times kept getting vm. Day of surgery: pre op nurse was excellent!! Definitely eased my anxiety. Dr Blanco wasn’t as pleasant as he was at the initial consultation. He didn’t even introduce himself to my family During preop We discussed where the incision would be placed however upon weakening in post op I had 2 incisions in which I wasn’t happy. When I asked for an explanation it was unacceptable and didn’t make sense. I researched and it was an error of his. As he’s done hundreds of procedures wouldn’t expect. doesn’t look good cosmetically either wouldn’t recommend.

From my first visit to my most recent,I have felt completely confident in his,and his whole teams abilities.

From the very first moments I spent with Dr. Blanco til present day I have never once doubted his abilities, compassion and knowledge in his field of practice. He has always listened to my concerns and those of my family. Answered all our questions in a very professional yet easy to understand manner. Cancer is a scary word, to have it is even scarier, but Dr. Blanco helped me to understand my condition, my procedures and my prognosis and put me at total ease. Thank You Dr. Blanco and your team

My experience with Dr Blanco was excellent as indicated in the 5 star rating in each category. I was very impressed with the pre, operating room, and post anesthesia recovery. However, outside his direct control, my overnight stay in the hospital was less than satisfactory. Everything was by the "rules" rather than with appropriate patient input. Cleanliness and sterility issues were of concern.

Dr. Blanco is exceptional in the way that he takes care of his patients. On the initial visit it was clear that I was in good hands. He went through all the steps of the procedures explaining the process. My husband was allowed to stay with me overnight and it was suggested by Dr, Blanco. In this special point I was more comfortable through the night when I was awaken and needed help with meals and drinking water or if I needed to go to the restroom. This indeed was a very special touch.

Dr Blanco and his dance team are exceptional!! Words cannot describe the excellent care and service we received! They are the best!

Dr Blanco was exceptional in rapport with me. On initial visit, I found him extremely knowledgeable and professional. He was thorough with explaining by disease issues. But, sensitive to my evident fears about the surgery. My surgical outcome was fantastic. As a nurse, I found him to be a credit to the professional scope of practitioners. My family liked him and felt confident about his surgical competence. I would highly recommend him to anyone. Wonderful experience!
