Dr McLaughlin is the BEST rheumatologist I have ever had; He explains everything very well, he examined me, and I left with no concerns. His Nurse Ashley is amazing, she is so sweet and answers all my questions I was having about my appointment. I hope she is there every time I have to come back. I love them two.

Unconcerned about my side effects. Terrible.
Initially I was impressed, as Dr. McLaughlin ordered several tests my other rheumatologist did not, and based on the results changed up my medications. However, I saw him today due to severe side effects related to the injection medication. Abdominal distention, severe pain and other GI issues. He claimed he couldn't 'diagnose' anything and that I'd have to see my primary doc or a GI specialist, even though this is related to a medication HE prescribed. he finally agreed to make the referral to a GI specialist as I thought this would be the most effecient way to get in and see to my issues. He never left his computer to perform even the most basic of exams, never touched me, didn't get within 8 feet of me! He changed my medications and sent me on my way with no lab work ordered, no follow up recommended, etc. What kind of Doctor does this??? Very disappointed, in pain, and he seemed completely hands-off. Will be lookin g for another rheumatologist.

He looks only at the computer. Never really visits with what's going on with you. No follow up blood testing.,always see you in a year followed by call me if you need me. I m done here.looking elsewhere going forward. Great office .so convenient but I need someone who cares a bit more.

I was upset my first visit….
When I arrived after a 1.5 hour drive, I was told by the front desk that I could not see him. Upon further conversations, it was determined the reason why was I had seen another Rheumatologist so they cancelled my appointment (without calling me or sending a message to me). I did see another Rheumatologist for a second opinion which I believe is my right. I did get to see him finally. Because I was so upset, I spent the entire visit trying to stop crying. Dr. McLaughlin was ok. However, I like a more hands on approach. He spent the entire time looking at a computer and the only time he faced me was when he prescribed the medication and told me the side effects. The medication ended up making me very I’ll, so I don’t know what to do at this point. Probably find a more hands on doctor closer to me. His nurse, however, was very good and very sweet!

Seek a different specialist
Didn't get a chance to see Dr. McLaughlin. Cancelled appointment through their text service due to wife having Covid and he denied her the ability to be rescheduled.

I had an appointment w/Dr McLaughlin. I waited 3 months for it because this was their first availability (which is ridiculous). For no reason of my own I had a car wreck on the way. My appointment was at 8am and I wasn’t able to reach them until they opened. I explained my situation and he refused to reschedule me. Dr doesn’t seem to be understanding of things that happen beyond our control so I believe I ultimately dodged a bullet with this refusal. There are too many choices for doctors and likely better ones considering his temperament. It shouldn’t be hard to find a doctor who is understanding of things that happen. Bullet dodged!!!

Only prescribes meds. Offers no other suggestions for treatment or daily life. Has no understanding of RA or OA. When your 15 minutes is up he is walking out the door even if you are still talking.
