Worst doctor I have ever seen in my life
This doctor has the absolute worst bedside manner of any patient who I have ever seen in my life. The only reason I didn’t write this sooner is that I was told that she had left to start a non-patient facing position. Clearly this is not the case. An example of her inappropriate (or just plain wrong) “medical” treatment? She used a WAAAY too large speculum for a Pap smear - when I indicated it was extremely painful she indicated that larger women usually have larger vaginas so I “must have some swelling down there.” I wouldn’t recommend this doctor to a person I hate.

BEWARE of Dr. Simons, seen at Northgate Polyclinic!!! This was my first time seeing her and it was the single worst experience I've ever had as a patient in my life. She told me "we don't have time for everything on your list". She gestured to my PHQ9 score (patient questionnaire on mental health) said inappropriately "This is really bad". After I tell her I'm not interested in the medication route, she continues to give me a lengthy talk on the benefits of medication at which point I had to remind her again that I wasn't interested as a first line of treatment. At this point, she must have seen the pained expression on my face and says "I'm not trying to argue with you" and then goes off on a tangent repeatedly using the words "irrational" and "rational". Rather than feeling heard, I felt actively PUT DOWN by her, a doctor I actively SOUGHT HELP FROM. If you want patient centered care by a compassionate health care provider, DO NOT see Dr. Simons! I found her to have a poor bedside manner. She was not unfriendly, but appears cold and detached. No personal or bonding questions. She did not have a clue about my diagnosis and would not refill my medications (started by another physician.) That left me without meds!!! Waste of time and insurance money.

Dr. Simons is super thoughtful, a great listener and a creative thinker. I appreciate that she heard me out and really understands the nuances of me being a Type 1 diabetic. She also asks me tough questions that ensure we're going down the right path. I am very happy she is my provider.
