Inexperienced, dry, terrible.
Arrogant, rude and inexperienced! Rena unnecessarily made me a “high-risk”patient, and sent me to a difficult specialist (I never went) for something that doesn’t require a specialist and should be managed by a regular OBGYN. I asked other doctors, my sister-in-law who is finishing her doctor training AND her training director, and they all told me the same thing: I should get a new OBGYN, and that my OBGYN should be able to handle it without sending me to a specialist. Rena was in denial, defensive, and said my in-law didn’t know what she was talking about because she’s still finishing her training! She was very rude about it so I went to a new OBGYN at UCSF and turns out Rena WAS WRONG! My new OBGYN was able to handle me and said I was NOT considered “high-risk” in her clinic, or in any other clinics at UCSF! (Like I was told) She did everything on the same day without sending me to a specialist! Plus, she was very kind ! Don’t settle for less! There’s way better OB’s out there!

Not very empathetic, an hour late
I had a certain procedure done for the first time in my life and I told her I was very nervous but got no reassurance or info about the procedure. Also, she was almost an hour late to the appointment - the nurse apologized for the delay, but the doctor did not. Otherwise answered my questions well and was professional.

Rushed
Less than 5 minute visit, no explanation of diagnosis, wasn’t empathetic, concerns were NOT addressed appropriately.

I was referred to Rena Hu by my NP Delenie Wong. In our first meeting Rena Hu was extremely professional but as I was under high stress due to my health condition and fear of what the worst case scenario could be I found our first couple of appointments challenging. So much so that I initially sought a second opinion. However after getting a second opinion and taking some time to consider who I feel is best qualified to entrust my body to: It was an EASY decision. Rena Hu has a razor sharp & clear perspective. She has the experience and precise approach that I trusted would keep me safe in surgery. She also listed to my preferences and supported my fertility hopes. She explained her surgery and treatment plan. Surgery went extremely well and my large incision healed absolutely perfectly. Follow up care was compassionate and sharply focused on my healing and also on my fertility hopes. Rena Hu doesn't waste time, don't mistake this for disinterest. You are in good hands!

Terrible annual gyno appointment. Did not warn me that she was going to start the physical exam and was quite painful.
