Dr. Renee Carter, MD

I was seen for an urgent issue and received results through the portal that were never explained to me. I was ignored over and over again when I called and messaged in MyChart and told I was referred to a specialist by one of the nurses and that the specialist would reach out. It's been 2 full weeks and I have heard nothing. I reached out again and have again been ignored. If you want your health taken seriously, seek care elsewhere.

I have never had a better care provider from a women's health care professional in my decades of searching. I only had the pleasure of her care once and since she has changed offices there is such a long waiting list I have had to take first available appointments with others and I deeply regret my impatience. She's the only one who was knowledgeable, helpful and personal in a way that comforted me and put me at ease, which is saying a lot as someone with severe anxiety when it comes to doctor's visits for women's health health related issues. I've lived around the world and seen a hundred different providers over the years, no one has compared.

New patient and first visit, Dr. Carter gave me an extensive exam, answered all of my questions and explained reason for requested labs. Three days after appointment, labs results were in patient portal and I received message from Dr. Carter reviewing my labs and making prescription recommendations based on my labs. My first visit was a positive experience and I'm looking forward to my follow up appointment. On the day of my appointment Dr. Carter was delayed during my exam due to computer issues, but continually apologized and kept me appraised.

The worst possible doctor. If she orders tests for you, she won’t follow up with results. If she refers you to a specialist, she won’t fax the order over at all until you’ve been waiting at their office for an hour. Poorly organized, prescribes unnecessary medicine, and overall a terrible doctor. She shouldn’t be allowed to practice.

Very intelligent and thoughtful. Takes her time explaining condition and treatment options. Up to date on technology and the newest treatments. Well respected in the community per my other providers in and outside of the VCU system. Will not let me forget to get your mammogram, colonoscopy, etc wants to help keep me healthy! I live in Richmond and both locations are convenient.
