Dr. Rhea Mehra, MD

Bad experience. Although not talk therapy, patients shouldn't be dismissed and have the doctor be condescending and mean-spirited. Do not recommend.

I could not be more disappointed in the care I received from Dr. Mehra both in respect to her professionalism as well as her ability to provide proper treatment. She was 30-40 minutes late to each of my follow up appointments, each time lacking any sort of communication or acknowledgment of her delay. While I understand that uncontrollable circumstances may contribute to delays, her tardiness was a pattern across multiple months and her lack of communication in these moments was disrespectful and unprofessional. In terms of the actual medical care I received from Dr. Mehra, I was also shocked and disappointed. Our appointments lacked any sort of continuity. Each time I felt like I was fully reintroducing myself, reminding her what medications she was prescribing me, and starting from the beginning. Each appointment lasted 3-5 minutes as I was rushed off the phone call. Every conversation was hurried and I was often cut off/not given the opportunity to ask questions. She quickly started me on new medications without explaining her reasoning or giving me the space to discuss their purposes, side effects, and alternatives. In short, I was paying for a professional to help me form a treatment plan and all I received was confusion and a prescription thrown at me with no guidance or room to ask questions. I understand that Dr. Mehra is not a talk therapist and I do not expect that from her, but at the least I expect a space where I can be informed about medication I am being prescribed, have a discussion about whether that medication is right for me, and voice my concerns about unwelcome side effects. All I got was an unprofessional doctor that left me on my own to figure out what medication I needed to be taking. Admitting you need help and seeking a psychiatrist in itself is a stressful process, but when you are met with a doctor that does not even exhibit basic respect or concern for her clients, the process is all together discouraging and disheartening. If you are looking to connect with a psychiatrist for the first time or just in general, look elsewhere. Dr. Mehra will just make this process worse and leave you confused.

Unprofessional and rude. Barely returns phone calls or emails and doesn't seem to really care about how you're doing. Any time I ask her a question she acts like its a burden. I've been a patient of hers now for a few years now and am currently working on switching doctors because she has just progressively gotten so much worse.

I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Mehra two months in advance. I received confirmation emails and texts about said appointment, and was ready on time. It has been two hours since my scheduled appointment time, and I am still waiting for any contact from either Dr. Mehra or her office. Reading the other reviews of her on this site makes me believe I have dodged a bullet. Do not book an appointment with her if you actually want your time and availability to be respected.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Mehra for 15 years. She IS concise and to the point, which may turn some off, but she’s friendly while doing it. She’s also not a talk therapist so her appointments go fast - but she will refer you to a talk therapist if you need one and that is discussed. She does have expectations and goals for healthier living, and I find that a positive, while some might find that discouraging. SOMETIMES I’ve had to wait in the waiting room and with a quick text I’ve found out it’s because the person before me had a medical emergency. I try to refrain from balking at that . As a mental health patient we have to understand those circumstances. All-in-All Dr Mehra is my saving grace and she found my perfect “cocktail” of mental health drugs. We work great together putting my life at ease. Some of these comments about her show here show a lack of understanding of her role. She really has everyone’s best interest at heart.

I've had issues with Dr.Mehra for some time now. Last Summer she got very angry about how none of the medications she'd prescribed were working and phrased it like she was angry at me. She then basically asked me what I wanted her to do and pretty much let me pick out my own medicine despite having no medical background and only knowing what I gathered from commercials. The medication I chose was actually ... for the opposite kind of symptoms I had. I reacted very negatively to it. I was able to switch to another psychiatrist while still in college but had a hard time finding this in the COVID world so I went back to her. Big mistake. She claims to take Tricare. They have no record of her. The receipt she gave me for charging 3+x my copay looks fake. I feel so betrayed. She is dangerous and should not be working in mental health. DO NOT go to her.

I had a horrible experience with Dr. Mehra. I was referred to her for treatment of anxiety and alcoholism. Although I have been working hard (admittedly with mixed success) to get sober, she demeaned my progress, told me I had to "step up" my efforts, and then claimed any anxiety drug she might give me likely wouldn't work until I had 6 or more months of sobriety. Nevertheless, she then proposed 2 drugs to treat my anxiety I'd never heard of, and asked me which one I wanted, as if I was capable of making that decision myself. The one I randomly chose, I found out later, is not an anxiety drug at all--it's primarily an anti-seizure drug, and though it's sometimes prescribed for anxiety there's little evidence that it's effective. Could not un-recommend her enough.

While this doctor has been late for online appointments, she has help me with balancing my mental health during this lockdown

Great Physician, easy to schedule and very flexible hours

no response during medical emergency. a receptionist emailed me back a week later. don't risk your life with these people. i have already found a new doctor. please if you read one review on this website, do not schedule with this woman.

Dr. Mehra is only concerned about getting paid. If you are in need of psychiatric care and medicine management, go elsewhere.

Dr. Mehra herself performed ok, although I did sometimes feel like she was not listening to me. My main problem and primary reason for leaving was the difficulty in contacting her office. It would consistently take several attempts to get someone to answer the phone, and they rarely respond to messages. I'm currently trying to change to a doctor I can actually access when I need them, but after two months I still can't get anyone to talk to me. It's beyond a joke.

I was never reminded of my appointment with Dr. Mehra and as a result had to experience withdrawals from my meds when they ran out - because she wouldn’t answer the pharmacy and refill an emergency script for me until I called 3 times. Then I set up another appt and called 5 TIMES to confirm the time with no answer. I was forced to go to the office early to ask when it was, where the receptionist had me sit down “or just knock on her door and ask”. I’m still here after over an hour.

Dr. Mehra is a prescription writing doctor only. She charges me approximately $50 for 10 minutes of her time. She barely looks at you, spends the entire 10 minutes typing on her computer, the writes out a prescritpion and throws it at you. She demands a credit card the first time you see her. You'll also wait at least 30 minutes after your appointment time before you get to see her. You have to quickly and concisely explain why you're there, what the problem, and what you want her to do about it

Cold. Condescending. Egotistical. I regret choosing Dr. Mehra. I spent more time in the waiting room than in her office. I feel she failed to listen to my repeated concerns regarding my medications side-effects. I wasn't comfortable treating them with more medication, nor did I feel doing so was even helping. Her advice contradicted the documentation that came with the medication, but I trusted her direction. I'm still living with the consequences of that decision. Use someone else.

Dr. Mehra and her office staff are very accommodating. I have been seeing Dr Mehra for over 3 years. After seeing such low rating (stars)- i felt it was my oppurtunity to give her props for being a great doctor.

I've been seeing Dr. Mehra for 3 years. She is great doctor that listens to her patients and does not dismiss things like other doctors. She specilizes in medication management and has helped me with finding the right medication and dosage for my depression/anxiety.
