This man is incredibly fat-phobic. Backstory-- I first had surgery with Dr. DalCanto 14 years ago. The surgery went well, and I was pleased with the outcome. I even sent him a gift card and a note to thank him. He was very grateful for my gesture. So, when I needed another surgery years later, I went back to see him. The problem is that I had gained quite a bit of weight. He told me he would operate, but not without fat shaming me to pieces in front of my precocious six year old. For example, he pointed at my MRI on the screen *only* to show me the fat lining my back. He then proceeded to tell me to basically quit eating. My partner, my son, and I had to leave the room to get him to stop. One more thing of note-- In the years since my first surgery, I have acquired numerous chronic illnesses. These illnesses have left me mostly bedbound (~22 hours a day). Not once did he acknowledge any of these conditions but he was ready to operate. Yikes!

He did my spinal surgery and it failed. I don't know what went wrong; nor does he. But I'm still significantly disabled, worse than before the surgery. But even if he did nothing wrong, it was the way he and his staff--from the receptionist to the assistant--treated me thru the whole process, always bringing up my weight. He claimed in the report that he had to cut through several inches of fat, even though my MRI clearly shows hardly any fat at the lower point of incision. He was covering his butt in that report, because he stated that my paralysis after the surgery was due to my "body habitus," Never mind that I walked just fine before the surgery. If he didn't think I was a good candidate for the surgery, he shouldn't have agreed to the surgery. I ended up spending a month in a neuro rehab facility learning how to walk again, I was out of work for 5 months, and I'm still unsteady on my feet, and I keep falling and breaking bones. He never even apologized. His ego failed us both.

After suffering for a year with a herniated and later extruded disc, I'd go and see Dr. Dal Canto without even thinking twice about it. I can ski, hike, bike, play golf, and do outdoor work just like before. Between the great surgery and the PT, I'm back!

March 19,2020 I had a major surgery from my pelvis to T9. Dr Dal Canto rebuilt my pelvis, put in cages, replaced a disc, fusion, screws and rods up and down each side. I am recovering comfortably. I would 100% recommend Dr Richard Dal Canto! His PA Shannon Montego thank you for assisting in my surgery and treating me so good. To the staff, thank you for always being so pleasant and willing to help me with my recovery. Forever Great full, Kelly

This Dr came highly recommended. Was told they take notes & consult with him to determine if you can have a consult or not. After a month (of serious pain) I called back to be told I needed a more recent mri & he’s now a month out. Time wasted & if that’s their follow- through, I’ll pass regardless of his expertise. Really poor, they never even tried to call & acknowledged that. I hope those in pain can understand my serious frustration.

I had to have surgery on my c3. I was nervous and apprehensive. Dr. Dal Canto reassured me and explained everything in detail what would transpire during surgery. *as this was my first at being cut into* Thank you Dr. Dal Canto. I recommend you all the time. It's been a little over 4 years since my surgery. 100% recovery, minimal downtime. I am back to my running and doing all of the exercises I loved doing before the surgery. I highly recommend this Dr.
