Ignorant and Arrogant
I went to see Dr. D after the rapid onset of abnormal facial movements among other neuro symptoms. He refused to review the history of onset I'd written up and he diagnosed me with a psychogenic movement disorder and rudely told me to get behavioral/mental health therapy. Fast forward---since this misdiagnosis, I've been diagnosed by other competent docs with relapsing remitting autoimmune encephalitis. I've had other docs literally laugh at D's misdiagnosis when reviewing my records. A prominent immunologist read Dr. D's report, laughed out loud and asked, 'Is psychogenic what neurologists call it when an injury to your immune system is affecting your brain?'This doc knows nothing about neuroimmunology or neuroendocrinology. But he will be cruel to YOU because of HIS ignorance. If you have any suspicion that your immune system or hormones are a factor in your symptoms (hint-they almost always are), go to a physician who actually understands how the body as a system works.

Worst Doctors Appt. Of my Life
After waiting about 10 months and an 8 hour round trip with high hopes, it was a let down when he came in, didn’t ask any questions nor review the records and labeled me with two diagnoses that have been ruled out multiple times. When I started to explain about why I was there he medical gaslit a chronically ill patient who is just looking for help. Then as I walked out he even insulted me because he nearly brought me to tears at the visit, saying I should be “mentally institutionalized”. Yes, I am reporting this doctor to the Kansas’ Doctors board of ethics. I have never been made to feel as bad about myself as he made me feel.

awful experience
It was awful. Waited months to be seen only for him to walk in do a joke of an examination and call it anxiety. No course of action no real care as to what is going on and said to follow up. Still having the tremors and issues and now will take another 7 months before I can be seen. Absolute joke.

The doctor walked in, didn’t introduce himself, and immediately seemed impatient and unwilling to listen to me or allow me to ask questions— or, further, question his so-called expertise. He was arrogant, pompous, and rude. He did not do a thorough exam (even compared to other horrible neurologists I’ve encountered). Finally, none of my other medical providers agree with his diagnosis, and his solution was simply to give me the name of a doctor whom he said had retired (because he specialized in something particular). Am I supposed to call this retired doctor at home?! So, even if his diagnosis were accurate, he offered no solutions (or minor suggestions that I’ve already tried, about which he was dismissive and invalidating, when I said I’ve tried those suggestions and am only getting worse). He clearly did not care ONE IOTA about me. No follow up. He’s one of those guys who should’ve found another another profession. Wouldn’t recommend him to my worst enemy. Horrible experience.

We have seen some inadequate neurologists on our journey. Dr. Dubinsky was a breath of fresh air. Thorough and caring with a sense of humor...

From the moment he walks in, he is looking for you to be faking something. Watching every move you make with skepticism and condemnation. Expect to feel invalidated and treated as though you are a liar and a faker who is wasting his precious time. I have a long standing dx and had an excellent neuro but he took an academic position and so I got shuffled to this bafoon. I fired him and am receiving excellent care at St. Lukes. Truly, KUMC should be avoided altogether.
