Dr. Richard Follwell, DO

Very experienced, very knowledgeable. Has a wealth of common sense and understanding due to his extensive medical background. Truly cares about his patients.

An ER visit for abdominal pain turned into an OR visit for emergency surgery for a perforated ulcer. Dr. Follwell came to the hospital in the middle of the night with a smile on his face to repair my perforated ulcer. He took the time to explain everything to me in great detail and described every potential scenario he thought could be a possibility before wheeling me off to the OR. He kept my family informed throughout the entire operation and updated them in person when he was done. My follow-up in the hospital post-op was also exceptional. The same level of excellence I had witnessed in the OR continued during my stay on the floor. The compassion and dedication he has to his patients is awe-inspiring and we are extremely grateful for his service. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for his knowledge, expertise, and unwavering dedication to patients in their time of need. - Thanks Doc - RL

For some reason my review keep being deleted so I’ll keep posting. Dr Follwell is awesome! He is a great experienced physician and I highly recommend him. Emma was awesome, Eileen was awesome! However they have one sour apple in their group that made me want to go to another surgeon SHANNON. Very nasty attitude towards Dr Follwell patients. I’m not the only one that felt she needs to go I spoke to other patients in a group and she has been nasty to several. Shannon spoke to me as if I was a child me being a nurse for over 14 years myself I know she needs to do better! Shannon is the only person in that office that needs to go! Then I was recently told by one of Dr. Follwell previous patients that she is his wife so we are just going to pray for him such a nice talented man should not have to deal with such an attention seeking woman with a bad attitude.

Highly recommend him as a surgeon. I had a Major surgery, performed by him,Colon Cancer, despite a traumatic situation, it worked with ease and security for me, both before and after surgery. I would highly recommend him to anyone for great care, kindness, competence, attention and professionalism. I am forever grateful to him!

Dr. Follwell was consulted for my 104 Mother when she was unexpectedly admitted into the hospital with a "twist" in her colon. He was extremely kind and very approachable for information. He was very kind to my mother, the patient. I immediately liked his kindness, and would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Follwell was sooo nice,,, a refreshing change from other physicians I have encountered at the "new" CC. He is so friendly and his bedside manner is superb ,,,,explains everything,,, wish he would train other health care providers,, wonderful thank you Dr. Follwell for being so kind,,,

He performed by Gallbladder removal in the ER after almost becoming septic due to how infected my gallbladder was. He made me feel comfortable and he has great bedside manner! The follow up was great as well. He didn't rush me and answered any questions I had. :)

During the CV-19 he attended to my appendix, I was in so much pain for several days but after the surgery I did not even need pain meds! I can’t even see my scars from the surgery- wow! Long toad ahead for me but I will make sure he is on my team of doctors!

I love Dr Follwell he is great. He makes you feel like part of the family there, he is very funny and makes you feel so comfortable and at ease. I hope everyone that comes to see him now and in the future will feel the same.

Saved my life.I had bowel problems from cancer since 1994.My pain was increasing and was horrible.He did surgery and I'm pain free after all these year.God has opened up the heavens

If you do your part the doctor sure is the best in what he does, felt no real discomfort after surgery lost so far 107 lbs in not quite a year. 24 lbs away from my goal

Dr. Follwell and the rest of the staff at Martin Bariatric have been nothing but friendly, professional and empathic to my journey to weight loss. I'm grateful to all and consider them a blessing. Dr Folwell did my surgery April 28th 2017. I have to say this is the FINEST DR. I have ever been to. From the minute you walk into his office to the departure, its a wonderful experience the STAFF and entire off is TOP NOTCH! Dr. Did a wonderful job on me. I am feeling 1000 times better. Dr Follwell came in on his day off ( Saturday morning) when he wasn't on call to perform a procedure/ test on my daughter. He patiently took time to explain his findings and plan of care as well as answer my questions . I was so impressed and proud to be part of the healthcare profession. I would highly recommend Dr. Follwell. He performed my VSG surgery and I am very happy with his care and the results. He gave his full attention at every appointment and answered every question to my complete satisfaction. His office staff is friendly and professional. I did not have to wait long at my appointments. I received a prompt response when I emailed his office with a post op question. He is a surgeon with the Martin Memorial Bariatric Program, which I highly recommend as well.

He is excellent. Professional and down to earth. The office staff leaves a lot to be desired
