Don't usually leave reviews for my doctors but I am actually surprised at Dr. Gottlieb's low rating on this site. I find that a lot of psychiatrists have low ratings because most people expect them to work as a therapist/psychologist and do not realize that these are two separate professions. Doctor Gottlieb has a PsyD AND MD and is extremely knowledgeable. He makes sure that you are understanding WHY he prescribes certain medications and always asks that you are comfortable with the dosage/prescription. He has never made me wait a single minute, I am always seen exactly at the time of my appointment. No, he is not my therapist so I do not spend hour-long sessions talking about my life and daily experiences (I do, however, do that with my therapist), he is my psychiatrist and he spends just the right amount of time asking about life experiences in order to know how to best treat me. He always seems interested in my well-being during follow-ups. I highly recommend him as a psychiatrist!

Was very good at knowing proper meds for my needs. Kept looking at his watch during my 15 minute visit. He honored my insurance. That’s why I chose him

I have to agree with most of the bad reviews. He is not warm nor very Accommodating . His first BIG visit is ONLY out of pocket . I made a fuss so he mucked with the insurance and/or reduced the fee. The worst part was that I moved and had not gotten new insurance or a doctor. I called the office and after a few calls he called a prescription in for me, nice guy , right? A few months later I get a $30 bill for going out of his way and making a phone call. I kid you not! Patient courtesy? I don’t think so, greedy yes !

Dr Gottlieb has helped me greatly in the past. But if you are looking for easy access and a support staff, forget it. If you call the office number, you immediately go to a Voice Mail. There you can leave a message and Gottlieb or 1 personal assistant may call you back. But if he is out of town, there is no way to know this. I had a severe anxiety attack and needed his help, but he never called back. I found out later he was on vacation. A staff on-site is a wonderful asset.

I've seen Dr. Gottlieb once for an overview of my progress in weaning off meds and to establish a relationship with someone in the mental health arena. The process was easy, i filled out the paperwork in advance, was 15 mins early but was seen at exactly at my appointed time. Dr. Gottlieb is just the person I needed. He listened intently, had me fill in the blanks and made an assessment that i believe was on point.

Very impressed. Wish I could see him more often, off of an insurance basis. He is very knowledgeable, keen on listening to your background as a whole and considering medical, social/environmental, financial and cultural aspects of your history that could influence or target the most appropriate therapy/course of action. I don't understand bad reviews that talk about arrogance or too straight to the point. To me, honesty is the core of the patient/therapist's successful relationship. Very punctua

I worked with Dr. Gottlieb for an extended time, because I needed it. At each visit, he was able to help me see things from a different (more accurate) point of view. As other have stated, he does not sugar-coat anything, and for that I was and remain grateful. In additional to very helpful and successful psychoanalysis, he did a masterful job of managing my medications. Dr. Gottlieb might not be the right fit for everyone, but I recommend that you give him a try.

Dr Gottlieb is not bubblegum therapy. He sugarcoats nothing. He is direct, sometimes brutally honest, and he doesn't care about keeping your business. He is the best Doctor I've ever seen; the most knowledgeable human being I've ever met. If you are fearless and are unafraid of looking yourself in the eyes in the mirror, nobody is more qualified than Gottlieb. I consider it such a privilege to work with him, and he is responsible for so many personal breakthroughs. He is simply incredible.

My D started seeing Dr G while she was fairly stable and on 4 medicines. Dr G slowly took her off all of them. She then because unstable which caused her to miss a couple appnts. Due to the missed appointments, Dr G stopped accepting insurance only for her and said she would need to pay $175 cash for each appointment and pay for missed appointments. We could not afford this so she had to stop seeing him just when she needed help the most. She ended up in the hospital. Stay away
