Fantastic doctor
Dr. Makhiawala is the best provider I’ve seen. She takes her time to listen and talk with you, she is thorough in her explanations, knowledgeable, and has the best bedside manner I’ve ever experienced. I had a particularly stressful situation and Dr. Makhiawala helped me to feel at ease (even laugh), explained everything very carefully and turned a visit I was very hesitant about to a completely positive experience. I’m so impressed with the care Dr. Makhiawala provides (it’s hard to find these days) and I can’t recommend her enough.

Dr. Makhiwala is down to earth and makes you feel comfortable in the office. I've never had a bad visit with her and always enjoyed my prenatal appointments. I'm very confused about these negative reviews. The only negative I can truly say, is the wait time for all of the physicians in the Brighton IHA office. However, some patients need more time and if I was that patient I would appreciate the extra thoughtfulness the doctors gave me as well.

All of these poor reviews shock me. I made it a point to see every Dr. in the Brighton IHA OB office throughout my pregnancy and Dr. Makhiawala was by far my favorite. She is super warm and friendly, and attentive to all my questions and concerns. She does tend to run behind but it’s because she takes time with her patients to give them proper care, and make sure all their questions are answered. I would highly recommend Dr. Makhiawala, she is extremely competent AND kind, a difficult combination to find in many Dr.s these days.

As a health professional myself for many years working in women's health I found Dr Makhiawala rude, judgemental and pushy . She displayed an arrogance not only unprofessional but disrespectful. She lectures and does not listen to the patient . Regarding her idea of health teaching I found her explanations were presented in a superior manner and not completely accurate . She was condescending towards me and insulted me with her choice of words and superior attitude . She indicated "in her opinion" that the appointment was not appropriate for "someone my age"and preferred to talk more about how my insurance would not pay for the examination. She used scare tactics with words like "false positive". She basically told me that she did not want to provide the service which I was entitled to and had been pre-approved my insurance company . She showed no empathy toward me and instead attempted to label our inability to reach an understanding as one of a difference in perception .

Dr.Makhiawala made me feel a type of desperation and sadness that I haven’t felt in months. I was so excited to finally have an OBGYN appointment to get a proper diagnoses. I’m a 17 year old CHILD who has been in severe stomach pain ever since I had my first menstraul cycle. When trying to explain what I thought my diagnoses was, Dr.Makhiawala couldnt of caught my mother and I more off guard. She began to CRITICIZE my healthcare. She told me that she “was trying her best to be professional, but it is really hard right now hearing this.” Please don’t be a working professional if you can’t be professional with patients. I’m a child and I am still in so much pain. Still haven’t had a proper appointment yet due to Ms.Makhiawala and her care. I’ve wasted my whole childhood being frail and sick, but you didn’t care to listen. You cared about what YOU were feeling. Don’t go to her. Please find a woman who will listen to you.

I was admitted into the hospital for severe abdominal pain and fever related to a post delivery infection. I turned down opioid pain meds when admitted as the triage Dr's expected that my pain would go away after the antibiotics kicked in. 12 hours later the pain was still awful so I requested the meds that were offered earlier. But Dr Rima flat out accused me of not really being in any more pain that should be expected 4 weeks after a c-section (even though this sharp pain and fever were new) and accused her 2 colleagues in triage of over reacting when they admitted me. She then refused to give me anything other than OTC meds and even told our nurse that I was not in much pain. I couldn't believe the difference between her bedside manner and the other IHA Dr's I have seen in the past. As a result I sat in the hospital room in pain for another 8 hours after requesting meds that were offered to me 12 hours before that! The next Dr took great care of me as all other IHA Dr's there have.

I agree with other reviews....no respect for her patients. She is very intelligent and knowledgeable but acts intellectually superior and "arrogant" in conversation with her patients. She performed a life saving surgery on me and was fabulous, but as a person/bedside manner, she needs to cultivate more warmth and kindness. I didn't mesh well with her, personality wise. She makes her patients wait for a lengthy period of time as well, as if she's very "important". Otherwise, she's brilliant. :(

She seems to have no respect for her patients. I have scheduled my first appointment with her and I received a call that the appointment needs to be rescheduled. I've rescheduled and when I got to her office I was told that the Dr. is running late and it will be at least 1/2 delay. I asked the Dr. to take me one hour later (vs. 1/2 hour) so I could attend the appointment my husband had with his oncologist. Dr. Makhiawala refused to do so. Disappointing.
