Dr. Robert Gillespie, MD

He takes the time to thoroughly and thoughtfully explain all my treatment options allowing me to be confident in my decisions.

I waited for an appointment with Dr Gillespie for his reputation and specialty. Instead of being exam-ed and seen by Dr Gillespie I was seen and only exam-ed by a 'medical student' -- I asked 'are you a resident' and his reply with a smirk was 'no - I am a medical student who is hoping to do residence at UH'. My arm, shoulder etc was never touched by Dr Gillespie who spent only two minutes with me. Also the med student told me that my fracture was a 'simple easy' fracture when it is classified as a 'Type II open complex compound fracture of olecranon with the ulna protruding above my elbow'. ED, surgeon every other doctor describes it as anything but simple normal fracture. The medical student was not satisfactory. I am used to residence and PA and Nurse Practitioners but I am not content with the care that the medical student gave me.

Late, abrupt, disrespectful, argumentative. A good surgeon also listens, builds some rapport - he did not. An unpleasant experience throughout the short visit. Did not earn my trust.

My appointment was a 9:30 am I waited until 11:15 to see a PA, which I made my appt to see him so I refused to see her 23 minutes later the Doctor came in with a attitude with no apology for being late or understanding why I didn't want to see a PA I am not sure how good he is but when a man that thinks he is better than you don't understand his patience's I made my decision not to go to UH.

Dr Gillespie is by far the most technically expert physician I have ever met. Just as important is his compassion, his kindness, and his listening skills. You always feel that he is never rushed during your appointment. Dr Gillespie has done 3 shoulder surgeries, and I would highly recommend him. It isn’t very often that you find a physician that not only has superior surgical skills, but also has the compassionate and caring side to him. Dr. Gillespie also has an amazing PA by the name of Nelly. I always compare every other PA that I have come in contact with, but none of them have been as caring as Nelly. They are an amazing team.

From the moment I met Dr. Gillespie, I knew I had the right doctor! I was not rushed! He explained everything to me! I had a reverse shoulder replacement that is successful! The surgery was not painful.used the ice cooler as explained to me. Back to work in 6 weeks as a hairdresser. He is the absolute best! Not only is he the best at what he does, he is kind, caring, and humble! Nellie is great too!

Dr Gillespie did my elbow and shoulder surgery he’s awesome best doctor very caring easy to talk to I recommend him to everyone I would not be able to play softball again if not for Dr Gillespie

Dr. Gillespie is awesome he has been there for me through all of my three shoulder surgeries, I wouldn't want anyone else doing my surgeries except Dr. Gillespie. Shoulders are hard to fix. Yes, I would recommend him.

If it was possible to leave a zero star-rating, I would do so.

Great doctor would not see anyone else. He has help me thru my rotator cup tear . I would recommend him to friends and family.

Dr. Gillespie performed should surgery on me in 2017. I presented with chronic pain; he assured me that the surgery was 90% effective in treating the type of pain I had. He also said that since I was relatively healthy, it was highly unlikely that I would develop a frozen shoulder after the surgery. My recovery was miserable, and the whole horrible episode resulted in not only a frozen shoulder, but also a neck injury. More than 18 months later, my chronic pain has increased significantly.

Dr. Gillespie did a total joint replacement in my shoulder. The process flowed smoothly. The surgery was excellent, the recovery was quicker than expected. I have my active life back, without pain. The total experience was very positive. I am very impressed and have recommended Dr. Gillespie to friends.

Go to another Ortho doc. He only wants to work with surgical pts. He doesnt listen and does not answer questions well

He worked with my shoulder initially with therapy then surgery on my right shoulder rotator cup. It was the only surgery I have ever had that did not hurt like most do. There was mild pain but nothing like I have experienced before. I was up and around the following day. To me that is wonderful, I was prepared to be stuck in the house in bed and needing family to help me. Nope I was fine on my own. I put him in my highest reqards.

Dr. Gillespie treated my mother who is 91 and has severe shoulder pain. He was great with her. He spoke directly to her so that she could hear and understand what he was saying. He was very gentle and kind with her. He explained what he was doing and why in an easy to understand way. I would definitely recommend him to my friends and family.
