Dr. Gorney is engaged in working with health insurance companies as a rubber stamp to deny services to patients. During my daughter's residential treatment in November and December 2021 Dr. Gorney did a "peer review" for the medical necessity of the treatment that my daughter was receiving. He indicated that it was not medically necessary. Because of my daughter's situation I had no choice but to continue the treatment while paying for it out of pocket. I also filed a complaint with the Department of Managed Healthcare in California, which overturned Dr. Gorney's decision. Had I not been able to pay out of pocket for the services my daughter would have been released from the treatment with significant negative consequences to her health and wellbeing.
