Be Warned
Dr. Hagenberg III was the worst doctor I’ve ever had! He kept asking me what it was I wanted from him. My resting heart rate was in the 120s range, after having slowed from the 160s - 170s range (at rest) prior to my hospital arrival. He ordered two different meds, despite me telling him several times that I took those meds at home when my symptoms began. He made a phone call and was sitting there in my room, on the phone talking about another patient and giving details that definitely should not have been discussed in front of us, for privacy purposes. He was dismissive, saying that I was “just having a panic attack” so I just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible, even though I did not really feel better, just to get away from that doctor!

Unbelievable!
My daughter was seen in the ER by this man. She is pregnant approx 37 weeks along. She had been coughing blood up all day and having a hard time breathing and contraction pains were through the roof! After pretty much pressing the issue he caved and finally tested her for strep and flu. She tested positive for Influenza A. But never checked her for pneumonia. Then proceeded to tell her to take ibuprofen and acetaminophen. Hello! Ibuprofen is not safe during pregnancy. They never monitored her contractions either. They sent her home with no discharge paper work and no flu anti viral medication. I am appalled at the lack of care and concern my daughter received. He was highly un professional in my opinion.

A thorough and professional ER doctor
He answered all my questions and followed the text book procedure in attempting to diagnose the problem. He did rule out through testing gall bladder problems, kidney stones, bowel obstruction and to the extent a CT scan can, cancer. He was professional and concerned.

Wow!!! What service!
My daughter was sent to the ER by her primary doctor since her blood results were extremely high. Dr. Hagenberg acted like there was nothing wrong with her. Kept asking her why she was having issues, If she knew she wouldn't be at the ER. Isn't that his job to find out. He had a few tests done not even for what she was sent there for. Then sent her home. she didn't even get a warm blanket that's how bad she was taken care of. I hope I never run across him in the ER cause I will definitely request a different doctor.

?? ?? ??
I went to the ER for stitches after passing out and hitting my eyebrow bone to the point of splitting open. It was a very intense day with another matter and he addressed it all with grace and made me feel comfortable and at ease. He covered everything and more in terms of testing, X-rays etc. and checked in, timely periods. He did the best top notch surgical stitches on my eyebrow and even called me the next day to check in. He had a calming demeanor and would recommend him ?? percent if you're gonna be in the ER. I left feeling supported and in great care and he's brilliant and has a great sense of humor. Which in my opinion can warm up and de-ice a very cold Emergency room and make the stay a little more comfortable.

Uncomfortable/unprofessional
I had a visit with Dr. Hagenberg in the emergency department and felt his comments and bedside manners were past unprofessional. As I was crying due to the amount of pain he enters the room saying "Yo, what's up. Want me to help you at all". I left the ER (after 8hours) still not being able to walk in my own (he had nobody come and try to help me to get me to walk), when I asked him about that he said "You'll eventually figure it out". Mind you I was leaving with a pretty intense spine injury. If you come across this doctor request a new one. If you don't you'll be on this page writing a 1 star review.

Uncomfortable experience!
I had a similar experience as Dr Penny described. Glad to know I’m not alone in my judgement but it’s scary to have this physician practicing in my local ER! I told Hagenberg that I was nervous to leave the ER without answers and he retorted “I can’t tell you nothings wrong and I can’t guarantee you’re going to be ok when you walk out of here but that’s not my job. I did what I can do for you”. He was arrogant and made me downright uncomfortable for asking questions.

Dr. Robert J. Hagenberg III now works at St. Luke's in Boise, Idaho. The worst experience I've ever had with a physician in a emergency room. I've been a practicing physician for over 28 years as a double board trauma / cardiothoracic surgeon. He tops my list as the most challenging doctor I've ever met. His lack of any type of bedside manner left me to conclude he is not a very good doctor. He expected me to drive the DDx process. He discharged me under questionable conditions. He walked out of the room while I was still talking. I was polite and very concerned about my health and he did not care at all. If you come across this doctor, ask for a different doctor.
