Dr. Heap’s office was very responsive and got me in for an examination immediately after I injured my hand and ended up being treated initially for a dislocated finger in the emergency room. Dr. Heaps was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and answered all my questions and scheduled me into hand therapy and the team was great there too! I would highly recommend Dr. Heaps if you are injured and need a hand expert who is also thorough and friendly! Thank you!

Felt like I was an inconvenience
I had a small hairline fracture in my DIP finger joint. I broke it while traveling and did not have an opportunity to follow up with an orthopedic until I returned home. It was a couple weeks after the fracture at this point. I was not in much pain, and was wearing a finger brace 24-7 since the injury. The doctor took a look at my X-ray and decided it was a non-issue, and for me to continue wearing the brace for another week. He saw my finger, but did not do a physical examination to check grip strength, joint stability, etc. I had a more thorough examination at urgent care. The entire appointment was overshadowed by a judgmental tone & dismissive of my concerns. I had to wear the brace 3 weeks longer than anticipated because he missed that I had severely bruised the tendons in my finger during the accident and the joint had significant lateral movement. This finger is on my dominate hand and the dip joint has healed crooked. Urgent care referred me because of possible tendon injury.

Another great doctor in Bedford!
I had not seen Dr. Heaps before as Dr. Wang is my usual doctor but he was out of town. Dr. Heaps was very pleasant, easy to talk to and had a way of making me feel at ease. Even as he was cutting into a wound on my finger he made me laugh. I appreciate that in a doctor. I was grateful that he saw me for Dr. Wang. I have had to see 3 doctors in the Bedford office, all relating to injuries and all of them have been fantastic in treating me. Thank you for making these appointments much easier than they could be.
