He’s not good
Worse experience I have had with a doctor. He cuts you off. Doesn’t listen. Over talks you and keeps his hand on the door knob the whole time. Rushes the appointment. Didn’t seem knowledgeable.

Hernia Repair
Dr. Hennon was extremely transparent with expectations following surgery. Consultation was very thorough. He laid out his course of action and a timeline on what I would experience following surgery.

Would not recommend especially if your a woman
I would not recommend Dr. Hennon especially if you are a woman. Dr Hennon always cuts you off, talks over you, and dismisses any concerns with insisting he didnt hit anything. I also came across in my summary of my surgery that there was heat injury that was never disclosed to me even when I came in with a nasty burn above my incision that wouldn't heal. When I came in with a possible infection, he tried aspirating and did not numb the area before stabbing me with the needle. It was quite painful and made me gasp. Seeking second opinion because I feel like there is something wrong and he won't listen. Please look up your surgeons before using and always go with you gut during initial consult, I wish I had.

Wonderful Surgeon
I had chronic gall bladder issues for more than one year but had to postpone surgery due to other medical problems. I was finally able to see Dr Hennon and my gall bladder surgery was quickly schedued. Dr Hennon took his time explaining the surgery to me. He is kind and compassionate. I felt as ease with him as my surgeon.

If you are looking for a surgeon who will treat you with respect, compassion, and ease your mind, Dr. Hennon is NOT the surgeon for you. He was cold and ruthless in his delivery, with no reason for doing so. He acted as if a common cholecystectomy would be fatal or life altering, scaring me beyond belief. I am a young person with a clean bill of health separate from the gallstones I had, so there was no real reason to try to scare me in such a way. I was belittled for my body and mental health conditions by Dr. Hennon. He disregarded my concerns and treated me like I was a problem, not a patient. I felt genuinely distrustful of him based on the things he said to me. Thankfully, my surgery and recovery went smoothly, thanks to his staff and nurses. I would absolutely never see him as a patient ever again.

I am 73 years old and i have had several surgeries and Dr Hennon is undoubtedly the best surgeon i ever had. He was through in his evaluation of my problem, he explained in grate detail his method for correcting my condition and performed the surgery exactly how he described. He is a credit to Upper Chesapeake. I would enthusiastically recommend him to anyone who requires any surgery. He is A1 in my book.

I met Dr Hennon in the emergency department.
The situation with my bad gallbladder was not normal. Dr Hennon came to see me every day I was hospitalized, about 15 days, he was very informative and requested to speak about my plan of care when I had family present. My family members were very impressed. He stayed on top of what was going on with me, fought for me when they wanted to discharge me. By this time he knew my strengths and weaknesses. We actually engaged in conversations and he listened!! That is unique these days!! He was very thorough in explaining what was going on with the insides of my abdominal organs. I was very pleased how he checked on me, made sure my pain was manageable. I can’t say enough positive things about Dr Hennon, he is the #1 Gastric surgeon in Bel Air and anywhere else. He cares about his patients, works very hard and it shows. Very dedicated. His office has the same pleasant atmosphere. I definitely would recommend Dr Hennon to care for your health.

Dr Robert Hennon saved my life earlier this year. He is an amazing doctor that cares for me and answered all of my and my family’s questions about my health. I was admitted to Upper Chesapeake with horrible constipation issues that I fought with home remedies for 3 weeks before being admitted. The staff at the hospital took all kinds of scans and x-rays but didn’t see any blockages. It took them 10-11 days to finally confirm that I had a blockage in the colon (which I told them I felt I had) from a certain test they ran. Dr Hennon got the results and within minutes of returning to my room, he had transport there ready to take me to emergency surgery. He pushed back 2 other emergencies he had to take care of because of how severe my situation was. He knew I was a couple hours from dying as my colon was about to explode. I’m blessed he got my file and went into action. His quick decision making and care for me saved my life and I will be forever grateful for him. I went through two more surgeries after that to correct the issue I had due to damage from the blockage. He was awesome all throughout the entire process. I now consider him my friend and not just my surgeon.

Dr. Hennon was the on call surgeon when my mom had an emergency surgery for a perforated bowel. When you find out a loved one has to have an emergency surgery it is very scary in general but even more so because you cannot research and select a doctor. We feel very blessed that Dr. Hennon was on call that day. He took exceptional care of my mother. He is honest, tells you how it is, and explains things so that you understand what is happening. When I met him I had a great sense of trust in him as I could tell he was a take charge person and very detailed- traits and developed skills that I think are very important in a surgeon. You can also tell he demands perfection from himself and others- which gave me comfort- especially when that person is performing a surgery. He sees his patients through. And what I mean by that is he made a point to see/evaluate my mom every day while she was in the hospital (7 days) - and I know at least 1-2 of those days he came in just to see his patients on "his day off". I do not know many doctors that are that dedicated. During the next few months we saw him several times for follow up appts- each of which he was just as thorough and detailed. Just two months ago my mom had her second surgery for her colostomy reversal. He personally called her the day before the surgery to check in on her (wow!!). This time my mom was in the hospital for another 7 days- and again Dr. Hennon came each day. Dr. Hennon is a unique Doctor. He is transparent and does not sugar coat things- something I respect greatly as it only helps to properly set expectations and set the patient up for recovery which made me trust him even more. He is fast minded but don't think he doesn't want to learn how his patient's body reacts and heals. He asked questions I think most doctors wouldn't. And that is because he wants to see his patient as an actual patient, not just a body or a case/disease name. Dr. Hennon was definitely meant to be my mom's Doctor. They shared a mutual respect, appreciation, and fondness of each other. And I am just so thankful to have had a Doctor that cared so much to provide her with such excellent care. I am forever grateful. "There is no higher honor than to be given the responsibility to care for another human being.”—Richard K. Schachern.

I was admitted to the ER with abdominal pain, determined to be a ruptured appendix. Dr. Hennon was the on call surgeon that performed my appendectomy. After the surgery I experienced long term pain, hernias, and irreparable lesions in my stomach. While expressing my pain level at post op appointments Dr. Hennon said "if there is something going on it's not from anything I did. I did everything right". After my primary requested and reviewed my surgical records it was uncovered that Dr. Hennon confused my case with another patient that had an appendectomy on the same day. His dismissal and lack of attention to my complaints have left me with life long discomfort.

Dr. Hennon did an excellent job with my gall bladder surgery last month. He took the time to discuss my concerns and thoroughly answer any questions we had. I loved his no-nonsense approach and frank talk. I'd recommend him to anyone looking for a reputable surgeon.
