Caring and Knowledgeable
I am grateful for Dr. Herman's educational and collaborative approach is addressing my depression. He recommends and references resources for any medication or therapy he recommends, but recognizes and encourages that the decision is my own. He seems to have a sincere goal of not only finding the right fit of medications and therapies, but also in working to make me feel the best that I can.

Best Psychiatrist
Why should you really choose Dr. Herman as your psychiatrist? I have been through countless psychiatrists to try and manage my Bipolar, Panic, ADHD, PTSD and Substance Abuse disorders. When I say countless I have literally lost count but probably around 10 by now. I have felt like a guinea pig and tried medications and different combinations of medications for roughly 21 years now. I have never felt better and more stable than now, after working with Dr. Herman. Dr. Herman listens to your concerns and choosing medications is always a team effort. Dr. Herman also wants you to be educated and provides you with the resources in order to educate yourself. Dr. Herman is not only intelligent but informed and up to date with the current research. To prove this he will actually show you the research during your session. This not only proves that he will take his time during your sessions but that he is well informed. I have never felt rushed while meeting with him.

Dr. Herman refused to listen to me and constantly talked over me. He refused to change one of my medications even though it didn't work at all. It was a very expensive medicine, so it felt like a huge waste of money. He also said he couldn't "fix" me if I was in school, told me to drop out, and said there was no possible way I enjoy school. He didn't believe I was "really" ADHD, even with an official diagnosis, and didn't seem to understand how ADHD works. He's informed about bipolar disorder, but it seems like he doesn't know much about anything else

Balanced. He knows medicines well. He does not see medication as the only answer. He can be direct but has the patient’s best interest in mind.

My first time feeling comfortable with a Physician for the first time on a FIRST APPOINTMENT! Dr. Herman was EXCELLENT with my teenager! It is very clear that he genuinely cares about his patients. He spent ample time with myself and my child, he didn’t rush through the process! I cried (tears of joy) after the appointment bc I finally feel like we will have our child on the right path of healing!!! I’m extremely grateful and finally see a light at the end of the tunnel!

I have seen him for years. In fact, he is the one that finally diagnosed me with bipolar disorder after years of it seeming like a case of Major Depressive Disorder. I have seen many psychiatrists in the past, and I would not go to anyone else. Just an FYI - a doctor can only help you so much...They rely on you to give something to work with. So if your cannot produce helpful information, you are not going receive much out of it. The same will happen regardless of who the doctor is. He knows a lot of dorky medical info (but that's a good thing!) and if you want someone that can implement the latest findings per studies and research...that would be him. Most doctors don't stay up to date with the latest clinical studies. They go by whatever they learned in school, pretty much.

He is chronically late, as one of his patients it was not uncommon for him to be an hour or more late for each of my appointments. However he is the only psychiatrist within 50 miles of me that was both accepting my insurance and accepting patients.

Dr Herman honestly does take a bit of getting used to but when you get to know how he is he is actually a very nice guy.Like most highly intelligent people he tries to be funny and it can come off as a bit gruff. He is though an excellent doctor and i would recommend seeing him a few times before making an opinion. He is really great on getting back to you on the patient portal and so far i have had no issues getting into contact with him. His beside manner might seem a bit off but he is nice.

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Herman?
I would not recommend Dr Herman or his staff. I had one visit with h and then wanted to switch to another psychiatrist in the office. I asked to do so and was told that they would ask the other DR if she was taking new patients. After they did this and was told she is not accepting new patients I was then told I could not see DR Herman any longer. So I paid $300 to see no DR in the office. I would never recommend them to anyone!

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Herman?
I would like to state for the record that Dr. Herman is quite possibly the most irresponsible doctor that I have ever worked with. Dr. Herman lacks both the bedside manner that comes with working with mental health, and even more worrisome is his lack of interest in his patients and his inability to bear responsibility of the medications that he prescribes.
