Dr. Robert Nelson is the Best!!
Dr. Robert Nelson is excellent!!! He performed my surgery. He listens and has an excellent bedside manner!! I was referred to him after the first doctor I went to didn't listen to me or meet my needs. If Dr. Nelson is accepting new patients, make sure you make an appointment ASAP!

Best Doc in Virginia
I was diagnosed with prostate cancer 4 years ago. I saw my world shatter. Dr. Nelson was very comforting, reassuring, caring and great at explaining my diagnosis and options. He genuinely cared for my well-being.

My husband saw Dr Nelson for an elevated PSA. My husband is a retired Urologist, having practiced 30 years. Two biopsies have been done, each with a follow up visit. When we arrived for the first biopsy, it was scheduled with a different Urologist, and all the insurance information was incorrect. While Dr Nelson is cordial, he was, to say the least, rushed. After the last visit a medication dosage was changed, however the prescription sent to the pharmacy did not reflect that. After 2 calls to his “nurse” with the promise of a return call, he’s still waiting. As an OR nurse I personally think this practice is run like a meat market. And the staff of dozens, in a practice with 50 physicians, especially treat patients as a number and are generally ineffective. I am writing this review for my husband and he has okayed it. He also said if the staff he has dealt with were his, they would have all been fired. Bigger is not better. This practice proves it.

Dr. Nelson employed the Da Vinci robotic method to remove my prostate in January of 2020 after cancer diagnosis. The operation was minimally invasive and he did an exceptional job. He has a wonderful personality in addition to his surgical skills. I would recommend him to my family and loved ones WITHOUT any reservations.

In 1966 I was diagnosed with a low grade prostate cancer by my urologist at the time, Dr. William Tunner. Dr. Tunner referred me to Dr. Nelson for surgery & he performed a prostatectomy using the DaVinci robotic method. I began shwing PSA readings not long after the surgery. Through treatment Dr. Nelson brought that under control with Lupron injections over a period of time. Then low PSA readings began showing again in bi-annual checkups. Dr. nelson referred me for radiation treatment which was appparently successful as I have had no more trouble. Also I have had only mild side affects from the prostate surgery & I consider myself very fortunate to have the good care from such a skilled surgeon as Dr. Nelson. I would absolutely reccomend him as a urologist.

Dr. Robert Nelson is a super doctor! I have referred several of my friends to Dr. Nelson due to his professional and yet very friendly approach to his field of medicine. Dr. Nelson in my humble opinion is a super individual!

Didn’t take the time to come and talk to the family directly after surgery. Did not come to check on patient after surgery or on the day of discharge. My dentist calls and checks on me after pulling a tooth and this guy does major surgery with no follow up to check on the welfare of his patient? I would not recommend him.
