Dr. Roger Gietzen, MD

Had my second appointment with Dr. Gietzen yesterday. He is a kind and compassionate person who listens to what you have to say. He takes the time to explain things and answer any questions you may have without making you feel rushed. I, find him to be down to earth, very intelligent, and genuine with a side of humor!

Dr. Gietzen scheduled me quickly. He spent ample time with me and was attentive to every detail of my situation. His desire to help me out of pain was matched only by his competence. He gave me reassurance, hope, and direction to navigate healing my spine pain. I'm so grateful that I found him.

Last winter I was admitted to the hospital for complications of West Nile virus. Dr Gietzen had blood work done and diagnosed the West Nile virus and encephalitis. After about a week of me thrashing around in bed unaware of my surroundings or condition, Dr Gietzen suggested a meditation session. My family and friends present could not believe the positive effect it had in calming me down. I was later transferred to Spectrum Butterworth hospital in Grand Rapids and then to Mary Free Bed rehabilitation hospital. After about 10 days there around the 55th day of my hospitalization, I was being fed with a feeding tube and had no appetite. My daughter suggested I listen to the tape of the meditation, when I woke up from the meditation I had my appetite back and was discharged about a week later. I have since made a full recovery which has amazed family, friends, doctors, therapist and myself. I highly recommend Dr Gietzen and his methods of treatment

I reached out to Dr. Roger Gietzen for TMS (mindbody disorder)...I've had lower back pain accompanied with back and leg spasms for the past 6+ months. I have read many books, blogs, apps, etc. to ease my pain, but it continued to escalate. After my initial correspondence, Dr. Gietzen responded within the hour and I was able to set up a virtual appointment with him a few days later. His calm and present demeanor truly helped me look within to reassure myself that I do not have a structural issue. My spasms diminished after 5 days of practicing his prescribed meditation and affirmation program. The fact that he takes a donation for his work in Haiti (in place of payment) is a testament to the type of doctor/person he is...it is extremely apparent that he is driven by God and love.

I contacted Dr. Roger through skype for chronic low back pain. I explained everything to him he made it clear that it is not physical problem. He was really patient and considerate. The line that "i am there to help you" just so much confidence and whenever some improvements happens i tell him as well as when face some issues i tell him. He replies to email within the same day. Overall i am very thankful to him. He is a great doctor mind body TMS pain found by Dr. John E Sarno.

Dr Gietzen helped me with my trigeminal neuralgia through mind body approach. Chronic nerve pain can be terrifying but thank to Dr Gietzen I was able to approach it holistically and one day at a time.

Dr. Gietzen was on my medical team when I was treated in Petoskey, Michigan last year. Dr. Gietzen is of course, professional, knowledgeable and thorough - but also has a way about him that as a patient, I felt a level of care beyond the norm. Dr. Gietzen took time to let me know he truly wanted me to have a healthy life outside of the hospital. I'm not exaggerating when I write that Dr. Gietzen's medical attention changed the course of my life.

I was admitted to Borgess Hospital, Kalamazoo, in 2013, with Severe Vertigo, Nausea, & Vomiting. CT & MRI of my brain was normal. Blood work was good. The Inpatient Physician couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. Dr Gietzen was consulted & taking 1 look at me, he knew exactly what was wrong & prescribed the right meds! I was very impressed with him & recommend him highly.

He's been a great support while going through some pretty heavy health stuff. Very kind person who means well, and genuinely wants to see his patients do better.
